You have to put the custom gob files in your \dark directory. Most custom missions include bat files. Just double-click the bat file to run the gob. Some custom missions however do not come with bat files. In this case all you have to do is enter dos, go to the dark directory and type DARK -ULEVEL.GOB where LEVEL is the name of the gob file. For example if you wanted to run destroy.gob you would type DARK -UDESTROY.GOB

If you give us more details, for example report precisely the error messages you get, we could help you better and bring precise solutions to specific problems...
Thanks

The xandor error usually pops up when you have the wrong DFBRIEF.LFD file for the current mod (or no mod). Dark Forces will use a DFBRIEF.LFD file in the Dark directory before it checks the LFD directory (which is where it is normally stored). If a mod just sticks its DFBRIEF.LFD in your Dark dir and you run a different mod or no mod that's a problem. So you need to either rename it to something else or delete it.
Also you can check my sig for my own Dark Forces level manager (it handles the other games in the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series as well) I'm currently retooling it and it's come a long way since the current release, but I still think it should detect and configure 99.9% of good mods automatically (excluding Dark Tide 3). Only thing you'd need to do is extract every mod to Dark\Levels\ in it's own directory, matching its gob file name (ie Dark\Levels\dtide3v1\dtide3v1.gob).

So this should run all mods for df1 and df2 without problems if i do that ok thanks so for both games i store them for expamles
C:/dark/Levels/Alertred
then download that program it should work without overwriting and a hitch
Cool i can do the same thing for Jediknigh 1 right.

Yeah sorry about that like I said I'm remaking UJMM, partly due to some kinks (plus I don't have access to many computers to test it on). Ah well it was worth a try.
I didn't go over Jedi Knight instructions but mods for them are stored in the Jedi\JKPATCH folder. Each GOB file is an individual patch. With the mods there you can use UJMM or Jedi Knight Patch Commander. Since UJMM isn't working for you you should Google around for it... I think the main homepage for it has a bad download, www.massassi.net has a good one I believe but at the moment the site is temporarily down. The JKPC homepage has some technical details about the JKPATCH directory: http://www.jediknight.net/commander/faq.html#3 question 3.
Note that some JK mods include a launcher EXE or BAT and multiple GOB files or other files... (example: Fatal Resistance, a good MP mod I've beta'd) these usually can't be run with JKPC or UJMM so follow their instructions instead.
For Dark Forces, if UJMM won't work, most mods can just be extracted to the Dark directory and run with a BAT file included. For mods which don't have a BAT file, check this thread for instructions: http://forums.df-21.net/viewtopic.php_t=1030
I much prefer UJMM though. I get all my DF/JK mods in one spot with only a few clicks to run them. <3 Hopefully I'll eventually iron out all the problems some people seem to have with UJMM.

When you have a patch conflict, it's because you've enabled two or more incompatible mods at once. JK probably will crash... some mods don't play together. It's not JK Patch Commander's fault.
For Dark Forces, you can do what I do and make a Levels dir in Dark, and make directories for each mod in there.
Then, when you want to play a mod, copy the files to the Dark directory and run the BAT. Delete the mod files from Dark when you're done.
Of course the slight difference in what I do is I use my UJMM launcher to do that all for me.
