I recently recieved the latest copy of Electronic Gaming Monthly, and should I find on the cover, Sequals! Final Fantasy VII and Kingdom Hearts II!
I flipped through the pages and read the short half page preview of it. While being very excited (seeing the screenshots), I was also a little disappointed. But at the same time, it's really cool.
The sequel is really a 1 hour long CG film. And Sephiroth is back!
They say the film is to be released in Japan in mid 2004, so it may be a while until we see it. But then again, with the patience we have waiting for Dark Tide 3 and 4 to come out, I'm sure we can wait it out .
Still, pretty cool stuff!

I heard about FFVII 2. Is it true? FF& is a really great game. When you say it's a cg movie, what do you mean? Is this going to be a film or an actual game? I suppose it'll be out on ps2, yeah?

Unforunately, it's not a game. It's a CG motion picture based as a sequel to FF7. But the really cool thing is that it's supposed to be a whole lot better than The Final Fantasy movie made a couple years ago. It's definately worth looking forward to.
The reason they didn't want to make it a game and the creator of FF7 really said this. "If we had made it into a game, it would be too short or too easy. We wanted to expand our pallete a little, and I think this CG film will do just that."
I'm bummed it's not going to be a video game, but I can hardly wait!!

FF VII was definitely one of the best games made... Too bad they didn't decide to make the sequel a game... But the movie should look quite nice, and be much better than "The Spirits Within", as that had only a little to do with the actual games.
Personally, my favorite RPG of all time is FF VI (3 in the US), with VII coming in a close second. I am waiting for RPG Maker 2003 to be translated to English with slightly less patience than i have for DF things like DT III&IV, Anterak City, and Dark 3D. RM2K3 should finally bring it up to being like FF VI. I think the next RM, which is probably due around 2004/2005, will make games similar to FF VII.

Yes FFVI is a fantastic game as well. I finished it years ago on a snes emulator, then I got the playstation version with new cutscenes, but I haven't really played through that one yet.
I have the rpg maker 2003 in English. Shadowcell gave me the link to it.

Bleh, I can't get onto port 8000 sites because of my proxy... if anyone downloads that (RPG Maker 2003 in English), would they be kind enough to e-mail it to me as well?

The site I listed links to another site, http://rpgmaker2k3central.t35.com/, but they've use their remaining bandwidth for the month, so I'll get it Saturday...
...It seems that the main difficulty in finding the thing is that so many others are after it, it eats up all of the transfer their host has given them...

Actually, by an anomaly in Japanese copyright law, it is legal. I'm not quite sure of all of the specifics, but Japan law prohibits media from being released outside of the country until sometime after it is released in Japan. As a result, they do not have any claim to translations of the media, until the owner of the copyright decides that they will market outside of the country.
So, in other words, it's legal until ASCII decides to sell an English version to the US, and I'll gladly fork over the price then. But right now, the translated version is legally "fan work", and not commercial property.

In order to prevent a total thread hijack, I will get the thread back on-topic.
(Request to Fenwar: Please move the other posts into an RPG Maker thread)
I would like to see a full-length movie made after each of the games, and named appropriately. Fortunately, there was no problem with not making a movie after the first Final Fantasy game, as it had no reasonable plot to speak of, and your party was mute...

That's the alleged title that EGM thought it might be called. It may be different when it comes out in the US. I don't really know about Ireland though.
But pretty much, it's supposed to take place after the Meteor incident, only now they're trying to take out some weird virus out to destroy the world, created by none other than the bad arse Sephiroth.
Oh and erm...I made a mistake....It's ADVENT children, not amnesty .
:: Hits himself with a brick ::
Here are some pics
Sephiroth looks like he got caught in a blender.

I wonder what kind of movie would be called "Amnesty Children"... Images of delinquent gangs come to mind...

Yeah, I guess FF VI wouldn't yield much of a sequel movie, as the game ends with the total end of all magic power, and hardly anybody's left alive, and only due to their own (now gone) powers...
