Think of a triangle. Draw a triangle. Which is more real, the triangle thought of, or drawn?
1) Thought of
2) Drawn
3) There is no triangle
4) I would never abuse triangles like that.

The triangle thought of. A triange has three angles that add up to 180 degrees and three perfectly straight sides. It is not possible to draw or construct such an object, since no surface is perfectly smooth or straight, yet the thought of the triangle perserveres.

The triangle drawn. A concept is just that, a concept; it cannot be measured or verified, and thus must be discarded.

Spell my name right.
And we have solid, tangible proof of God. Look at the world around you. All creation speaks of a Creator.

Well if a thought triangle that can not be tangible DOES exist, than why can't an untangible God exist? And you cant sya the conceptual trinagle doesn't exist, because it really does!
On a more serious note, I agree with Tom.

Seen triangles. Never seen god. No mathematical proof.
(I'm not denying existence. I just don't see any proof, either way. Okay, proof that'll satisfy *me*. That's the only proof that matters. So keep your "holy books" to yourselves.)

Sounds like somebody has been reading Plato. The answer is 1, for reasons already given by AlexG. However, I can see Casey's point. It's all in the way DD phrased the question. When we think of something being 'real', we think of it being something tangible. A triangle, however is not tangible. It is a concept, like numbers, though this does not mean that it is not real, Casey. A triangle is like a formula we use for construction and measurement, just like numbers. I'm sure your familiar with geometry? Well it exists for a reason.
I'm actually studying this in philosophy at university at the moment, and it's quite interesting. Anybody familiar with Plato's Cave?

Maybe so. For all we know, we could have been created by aliens .

Plato's Cave....yes, in fact. We've already looked at it in English earlier this year, and we read the whole section from That Book (I forget the name of Plato's book at the moment) in Theory of Knowledge, my International Baccalaureate class.
It's very good and interesting, and fits in with the Matrix quite well. But refresh my memory....how do all the objects line up?
FIRE----OBJECTS----SCREEN-----MEN
Or is it
SCREEN----MEN----OBJECTS----FIRE
? Isn't it like a movie projector?

Yes, in a way he anticipated cinema. It would be very hard to explain without the aid of a diagram. It is Screen - Men - Objects - Fire. I can't find a simple, decent diagram on the net. If anybody wants I can draw one up. I drew a great one the other night, but I left it at home.

Why do you assume {what is real} and {what is manifest, or tangible} are subsets of each other? (If you're not familiar with basic set theory, change.)
Caeser is no longer tangible. Therefore, Caeser is not real... right?
Very simply: our universe, our existance is an approximation to the Mathematical Universe. AlexG was right, a "triangle" can never be constructed. Just like, there is no ruler that measures 12 inches EXACTLY.
In order to even approximate a triangle, there must be something we can get "close enough" to. So, #1.

Actually, I do agree with #1. Although I would never abuse triangles like that (think of one, drawing up one, then ponering which is more real), I do agree, since others can draw the triangles... Or I can go without the pondering...
