Has anybody tried running DF on Windows Vista yet? Any problems?

It's probably the same as on XP, I haven't tried it yet though. Here's what I would expect (I'll have to try it for real later):
1a) Sound still won't work natively.
1b) nVidia drivers don't support graphical DOS applications, only text-mode console windows ("This system does not support fullscreen mode." - WHAT!). So you can't run it in NTVDM or with VDMSound.
2) DOSBox is probably unaffected.
3) Virtual PC 2004 has glitches under Vista. Virtual PC 2007 for Vista is in beta and you can sign up to download it if you search around enough. As I have said before this is my preferred way of running DOS games anyways.

I don't think that there's yet anything that DOESN'T have problems under Vista. It just seems to be a buggy operating system, and re-defines "bloatware." It's gone in exactly the opposite direction I hoped Windows would; unfortunately, because Microsoft has a monopoly on providing OSes for OEMs, Vista will become standard and the accepted norm...
At any rate, though, as MZZT'r suggested, it will certainly require full system emulation to run. However, my preferred method is to simply run on another operating system.

Virtual PC 2007 has been released for free public download. Just an FYI.

Yeah I read a review of Vista that said it is literally a step backward in speed. Windows open more slowly, control panel buttons respond more slowly, etc. That's what you get I say for blatantly ripping off Mac OS X.

Game runs fine under Vista using DOSbox.
Hm.. I do recall everyone hating Windows XP when it came out, too.

Ah but nVidia's Vista drivers are about 1/2 as fast as XP's. Meaning gaming is out of the question. Which sucks even more since Halo 2 is Vista only.

Thus, because it simply wastes memory on what it thinks you MIGHT use, it's going to run slower for EVERYTHING.
Microsoft's mantra is correct. Unused memory IS wasted memory. This is why those memory defragmenters or scrubbers or freers are such a waste. They do what they claim to, but the trick is that it's a detriment to the system, instead of a help.
Think of it this way... let's say you have a bookshelf full of books on the other side of the room, and a table you're sitting at which can hold no more than 8 books. If you want to read a book, you have to go get it from the bookshelf, and when you're done you put it back. What Vista does is it takes books it thinks you're most likely to use and moves them to your desk, so if you do use them they're already there. Now, and this is the point you're confused on, if you want a book not on the desk, Vista will make room on the desk for the book you get from the shelf (by moving a book which it decides you're least likely to use again soon back to the bookshelf). All 8 spaces on the table are always filled with no penalty in performance, because if you need a 9th book, one of the eight is always returned to compensate. And the gain occurs when you DO happen to use a book that Vista has gotten for you... one thing that sets Vista apart from XP is that it purposefully tries to predict which "books" you use at different times of the day or week and gets them for you before you ask for them.
There is no performance loss just because extra memory is being used, since that memory wouldn't have been used for anything else anyway! If memory is needed, Vista will simply clear out some of the pre-fetched information to make room.
As I said before, the reason Vista is so slow is mainly because of slow graphics drivers (because MS forced the vendors to rewrite them) and also some slow applications (Windows Explorer is especially bad now in this area, IE when you're copying or moving files. I usually use command line copy tools in Vista for this reason).
If nVidia would put out some decent drivers I could probably switch permanently, but right now I need XP for gaming.

You mean "Windows". Not "computers".
