I have a bad habit of collecting the leftovers of Dark Forces. Somewhere I have the copy of early build of Dark Tide II that got leaked when Patrick's Website went down.
I was wondering if any one on the forum had some old bits and pieces that haven't been posted on DF-21. Does anyone have pieces of some of the great unfinished DF projects like Dark Tides or The Scorpion Consortium? I would be terribly interested in viewing them if possible.

the sequel to Assassination on Nar Shaddaa was pretty far on in 'development'. I've been toying with the ide of releasing it as a demo for a while. But right now I'm trying to get DTIV finished. I only have one more thing to do - put a looping music voc in a nightclub- but it requires a soundcard, which I don't have, to get it synched and looping perfectly.
Come to think of it there are plenty of lost levels that I wouldn;t mind seeing either.

I believe both The Scorpion Consortium and Dark Tides remain lost, their causes of death being related to hard drive crashes.
For more possibilities for the Demo Shed, check out the archives for the old DF/JK/MotS zine Darkness Falls.
And what's this about Station to Station being "pretty far on in development"?? I'm having quite a bit of trouble getting music to work in DF (sounds are surprisingly no problem), but I'm sure someone would be able to give you a hand with that, Barry!

What is it with Hard Drive crashes? I've been looking at the Darkness Falls Archives and every cancelled project is because of a Hard Drive Crash. Most of the Total Conversions for JediKnight were killed by Hard Drive crashes. I've apparently been very lucky, cause I've never lost any of my projects.
Maybe Hardrives only crash when there's something REALLY cool on them...
On a side note, I sent a message to Void Dragon, who was working on the Scorpion Consortium. His mail account is still active and according to Google, there is still a Void Dragon around. I'm hoping that there may be some scraps to nibble at.

I am under the impression hard drives make great scapegoats when someone has lost motivation on a project and has no desire to finish it.
Or perhaps other, less conspiratorial and more embarrassing reasons ("whoops, I didn't delete THAT folder, did I?").

I'd say release it as-is. A stuttering VOC is no worse than the bugs you can find in almost any commercial game, and it's better than risking that something else could delay the release even further.
(Also, in case it helps, I'm pretty sure Void became Void ZoSo around when he joined DF-21.)

Once I can get DF running properly on Vista I'll be able to sort it out.
Jackson, to be honest, I'd forgotten completely about Station to Station. I was referring to Blood Money. It's way cooler. I'll see if I can sort of finish off the first level or something.

Ah, I was thinking of Blood Money but just got the name wrong. Whatever it's called, I'd love to see it (when it's ready)!

(Also, small note: I'm fairly certain there were never any demos released through Darkness Falls, just screenshots.)

Yeah, there were no demos directly through Darkness Falls. I just figured the authors mentioned in the articles might still have early drafts of the levels.

Heh. I know that no one would want to really see most of the stuff I've made that's been in the dark all along. Really, right now, there's only a little bit that I deem not outright embarrassing. The first level for the series I implied I was working on? I've more or less deleted the whole thing and started over at least a half-dozen times, taking out half of an Ironfort-sized level with it. (with more like half of a Coober in terms of gameplay...)
Still, I really liked what I've got for the second level for it. I swear that I'll finish it sometime.
But I refuse to let hard drive crashes get into the way: I've got it backed up and redundant... And since my most recent (actually, only) hard drive failure I've personally had, I'm going paranoid, and going the extra mile for RAID 1.
