I'm feeling a bit down today. My first girlfriend ever just broke up with me, Crying or Very sad , and I won't get to make it to my friend's graduation this semester. Sad

Got any suggestions to chaise away the blues?

I think you answered it in the subject line.

Sometimes you wanna go
Where everyobody knows your name

Yes, alcohol is good for temporarily getting rid of the blues. But it just postpones the grief I'm afraid. Break ups are never easy, and it's a sad fact of life that you'll have many more. The sorrow will pass in time, then you'll just be angry for a while, and you'll hate the bitch, then you'll get over it and you'll wonder what you ever saw in her in the first place.

Alcohol isn't a god prescription for grief. You'll be down a couple of weeks, then you'll get over her. As for the graduation, it's no big deal. I'm sure your friend will understand.

Yeah, I didn't even have a graduation. That's not to say that I didn't graduate, I think. To be honest I don't know what happened.

For a temporary blues-ridder, I recommend Name That Beard. Actually, I suggest you seek out as many humorous websites you can find... anything, really, to take your mind off your troubles (which is very much the thing to do in such situations).

Hope things start turning around for you soon.

Watch a funny movie, or play a funny game. Or you could just look at Darthdoctor. That always makes me laugh. Laughing

Welcome to the world of the rejected. For I am the King of the Rejected Mr. Green . I wouldn't feel to bad about the girl. From my experience, they're a waste of time and money. Good thing for me, I don't really care anymore, and its made my relationships with them as friends so much better (ironic huh?).

As for the graduation, make a cardboard statuette of yourself and have a family member bring it to the graduation. Even though you can't be there, it still shows that you tried Mr. Green . No actually, don't do that. I think the best way is to make a video tape of yourself wishing your friend the best for the future. I'm sure he'll understand. I had relatives who couldn't make it to my graduation (would have made a much better fanfare though Confused ), but I didn't fret about it. Or find some way to make it up to him.

So in short, phrik off the women (NOT LITERALLY!!!) And find some way of showing your friend you care. That's about the best advice I can give to you my friend.

And now I found that I loved what she was, if not who she was.

Sigh.

Bleh.

Oh, yeah, I didn't mean alcohol. See I was going for the friends angle, ya know? Hang out where everybody knows... well I won't burst into song again. So, DD, go find some friends and watch that funny movie. Be happy!

Some of the things there are just so stupid, you can't stop laughing...

**On a side note: It was for a charity fundraiser, and the girl I "won" is a good friend of mine.

I guess you're right. I got dragged into a dating game on Valentines Day my Junior Year. I made it to the 5th of 6 rounds of the game, and then I got dropped because of my stupid eye color. She was kind of a hoe anyway.

Well, I'm better now.

One reason: I'm a senior.
After this, it's grad school.
I can't be as weird as I wanna be there, so it's time to bug out one last semester...

Thanks. Laughing

Speaking of squirrels, my brother found an article on a study called Squirrel Fishing. The scary part is that it's a Harvard study...

Absorb yourself into your computer... as long as nobody else enters the room, you're free of your life.

That would work... except I'm not trying to get away from life, I'm trying to get away from me.

Even on the comp, I am still thinking about the stuff I do, still feeling for the stuff I did.

That could be a tricky one... I don't think there's a game that could do that effectively... Even JA or Morrowind... Let alone any internet site.

Burning Gundam's top ten ways to releave pain and anger.

1: Edit Dark Forces! (It works for me. I focus my mind more on the programming than my problems).

2: Listen to music that gets you into a better mood or expresses your mood. I play soft jazz if I'm content or happy, and I play hard rock if I'm angry about something.

3. Play multiplayer first person shooter games (Halo, 007, etc.). My dad and I play a game like that every other night, and it gets really funny sometimes Laughing .

4: Watch a funny movie, or read a book.

5: Go for a walk. I like to hike a lot in the mountains.

6: Hang out with a friend and talk about your problem(s). I find this to be most helpful.

7: Do anything that would normally make you very happy.

8: Get enough money and treat yourself to a new video game or movie or something under $100.

9: Play an incredibly violent game.

10: If all else fails, go to a counsiler, get some heavy anti-depression drugs, and live happily artificially (I don't do this though).

If none of these work, I don't know what will.

How about,

11. Go on a green tea intrinsical trip where you explore really, what the deepest reaches of your subconsious were trying to get from the failed relationship, realize their disturbing but releaving consequences, realize that you can't go back to the relationship you have, call up and appologize, talk to an old friend for an hour, relive old times, sigh happily, post on Df-21.net, and do three more chapters of homework before collapsing into bed, to happily dream of the good old days

It worked for me.
