For fanatics of The Dark Tide series (or those with tremendous quantities of time and patience on their hands), look for a special downloadable release of deleted Dark Tide levels, deleted scenes, story materials, and concept art.

The Dark Tide: Behind the Ancient Mod will be released in late 2007.

Thanks!

Prepare to be underwhelmed...

Yay. I hope it's like the Tales of a Mercenary 2: Behind the Mercenary bonus feature (Tales of a Mercenary is a bunch of add-on levels for Mysteries of the Sith. The linked video actually runs in MotS as well).

I'm in Virginia now, and I got a hold of most of the necessary materials. I think this will be a fun download. I found neat little test levels that Matt, Barry, and I worked on for developing ideas, and also the "original" Xizor's Palace and the heavily modified one I later made from it. However, keeping with tradition, I will be releasing this thing later than expected, as I left the rendered animation for DTIII's closing cutscene back in Vancouver and can't get to it until early January.

Just an update:

I did actually submit it to DF-21, but since this website is now in permanent part-time limbo these days, anyone interested will have to wait until the admins get around to checking on the site.

Nope, I used the ancient secret script on the uploads page. I don't know how to access the FTP. I'll email it instead. Sorry, I didn't remember if I should bother you or Jackson these days.

Hit us both with the Jawa droid zapper and usually something will happen within a non-specified period of time.

I can't make any guarantees about the time delay on the Recently Added Files list though.

There's actually a non-anonymous username I've created which gives access to the upload folder only, which I planned to only give out to those with something over 10 MB to send.

So far no-one's managed to use it. Is the world running out of geeks?

I found an early version of... Barry's?... one hit wonder GOB in there. SKYPOD.GOB. I think you included it by accident. Razz

Also I found all the Dark3D screenshots maddening.

Oh is that what that was? That was actually "Raid on the Ovarid". Guess I named it that back in the day.

Well whatever it was, I just remember it was part of that contest to make a 64x64x64 playable level, and the level I played back then was slightly longer.

Also the "finished" Xizor's Palace GOB is giving me out of memory errors when I go to play it (which doesn't make sense since I'm giving DOSBox a full 64mb). Am I the only one? The "unfinished" version does not give any such error (although some spots near the beginning almost gave me claustrophobia).

Yeah I got the same error message when I tried playing that level. (What might cause something like that?) Otherwise, I must say very cool stuff in the download Patrick!

patrick did you include any of my old versions of DTIV? There are about 2 or 3 entirely different versions, I must post them soon.

No, I don't think I had any of them anymore.
