3DO objects are loading and rendering. Solid color polygons, textured polygons and point rendering is supported. I had to cheat when viewing the ship since I don't have VUEs working yet. Kyle's ship starts in a sector you can never get to, so I had to turn off sector rendering and fly over there to get a screenshot.

If you have any comments or questions about the update, don't hesitate to post. General posts about the project should go into the main thread if possible. http://df-21.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php_t=1187

Anyway here are the screenshots, remember this is still early and yes the floor is misaligned under the Death Star (that will be fixed) Smile

I have to admit after playing Jedi Knight, JO, and JA, Dark Forces to me has been the most visually appealing of all of them.

I always thought the same thing too. While the Dark Forces engine may have been the most primitive of the bunch, it always seemed to me that the Dark Forces team put a lot more effort and creativity into the game than the teams for the subsequent games did.

I agree. All the other sequals either seemed too monotonous (Jedi Knight), or were just too hollow-looking (JO and JA). It almost seemed to me that JO and JA were done more by Electronic Arts than Lucas Arts (and I've made the mistake a couple times to assume that).

BTW lucious, do you think that it is possible to put something to fill in those spaces that the ships are lacking? eg. the wings on the Moldy Crow and Tyderian Shuttle, where the wings are just floating there.

If someone wants to make a new 3D model that fixes that problem I can include it as an optional "enhanced" resource. The engine won't automatically fix it but one of you guys can Smile

Previously there were pretty hard limits on how complex the 3D models could be but those limits are much higher now.

I see, well I don't remember,(need to play an original level again) if the empty space was just an invisible structure that someone can "paint" to look attached, or if there is absolutely nothing there, and ne one who'd want to would have to re design the whole ship or add that little piece. Next time I'll shoot at the missing piece and see if the shot goes through or if it hits something invisible. but i could say that if i were Kyle, I'd tell Jan to seriously repaint the plain looking turret.

There's nothing in between because each object is a separate object. However, you could easily write in a small shape in the original 3DO file to replace the emptiness and make it appear as if it's attached and put in a monotone color like a gray or brown.
