This actually isn't necessary, I am capable of not implementing every suggested feature right away
Granted people do need to understand that not every request will make it in and that many requests will be delayed until more base technology is implemented - such as playing all the Dark Forces levels and mods. But as long as people keep this in mind, having an idea of where people would like this to go long term isn't a bad thing.
Would it help to make a single feature request thread (something like the "what would you change about DF's souce code" thread)?

Just keep in mind that every time you stop and implement an extra feature, that pushes back your demo release (as well as all future releases) by the time you spend working on it. Just make sure that you're positive you're using you're properly allocating coding time.
Also there's also the issue of people posting requests that will get pushed off the latest threads list by the time you get around to implementing extras.

I agree with the opening sentiment. Too many suggestions seen recently are entirely unrelated to Dark Forces - as far as I'm concerned the recreation of DF in a useable form should be, and thankfully appears to be (if only due to practical reasons!), the primary concern. I'd be more than happy just to finally be able to play as many add-on missions as possible again, at a higher resolution.
And even then, any extra features I see as irrelevant. Some extremely minor improvements are fine, but stuff like realistic physics and whatnot? That's what modern engines are for, and I see zero place for such things inside DF.

I have to agree. I'm not so much for all new features, I'm just glad we have someone actually DOING something. Special things can come later.

Of course you are. This thread is really for the people making the requests. I.e., it's annoying and unnecessary.

The only features that really should be suggested at this point should be related to implementing the original Jedi engine feature set.
For example, I think the inclusion of a Quake 3/Source engine-style console would aid in debugging and testing immensely.

Apologies for my delayed response, and thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, I currently have no plans to implement the requested feature. As always, you're welcome to not read any thread with "Feature request" in the subject line.
Would it have helped if I'd titled the thread "Feature idea: Newtonian physics"? I considered doing that at the time, but I was also worried about sounding like I thought I was the first person to come up with the idea or something.

I'm no programmer, but I always seem to hear that the worst delays and snags come from developers trying to add features to a complex program that wasn't build with those features in mind, when they could have avoided the trouble just by planning further ahead from the beginning.

It would be interesting to play with as a cheat code (as I said), and some levvel authors would probably appreciate having it in their toolbox. Some players might even find that they enjoy the game more with the physics altered. I don't see the problem.

Well, I -was- going to suggest 3-d spider enemies, but I think that's a feature present.
I truly, sincerely apologise for that pun.
