I want to ask a favor of the community, if possible. The movies on the website are pretty old, the physics and such are out of date. As DarkXL slowly gets exposure it'd be nice for people who can't play it, due to not having the proper machine or not owning Dark Forces, to see a trailer or gameplay video to see what its like. If people submit their idea of a nice gameplay video or trailer then I'll hold a poll and host the video that people here like the best as the "official" gameplay trailer for DarkXL. And if that goes well, maybe we can do this regularly as new levels and/or features are implemented.
Anyway let me know what you guys think, good idea? Any alternate suggestions?
Just put the video up on a temporary host (one of the free ones) and post a link in the thread. I'll host the final video on the DarkXL website/ftp space. If you decide to make a video, let me know so I can wait awhile for you to finish before holding the poll.

I know some people would consider that a bit tantalizing . . . seeing trailers of something they can't play . . . Then again, a tantalizing trailer might convince them to update their systems and try DarkXL. I think it would be a good idea . . . but you should probably ask the ones who can't play it first.
But if we do, what should we use to record the videos? I'm so broke right now, I can't even afford FRAPS . . . but that's just me  I probably wouldn't make the best videos anyway. Hopefully, someone can afford something decent and capture some good gameplay footage . . . but I think we should wait until you add Talay before doing any trailers. I've probably played secbase more times than any other DF level, even before testing DarkXL. Most people would probably agree that secbase is really boring by now.

While I agree that Secbase is boring now for people here, thanks for putting up with it to test DarkXL by the way, I'd like to get a movie that's better representative of DarkXL then the current movies are.
Maybe waiting for Talay is a good idea, though. What does everyone else think?

Yeah, I think waiting for Talay would be a good idea. It would allow the trailer to show more variety than would be possible with Secret Base footage alone.
