Remember my old project Jedi Crystal? Well as with all of my old projects it has undergone a title change!!!!
New title is now The Force Crystal. So far nothing plotwise has been changed and all levels are still in the works. I should have some new screenshots of 3 of my unique levels sometime later, maybe when I get home from work.
Kind of a slow day for me as you can tell...

So . . . the levels that say "canceled" on the old project page are still canceled, right?

Yeah. To be honest I wanted to change that, but I have since forgotten my password, let alone the domain. But yes, they are still canceled.
And until I can find out how to take screenshots with my keyboard (a mac keyboard so no printscreen button ) I have nothing to show for my new work.
I'll find out how to soon though.

You're using Mac DF or an emulator with Dos DF? Cause the DOS screenshot key is the delete key (when using the -SHOTS command line thingy) . . . idk what the Mac version's screenshot key is . . . all I know besides that is that DOSBox's screenshot combination is Alt+F5, but that won't help you much, huh?

No. I'm running XP natively on my mac (via Bootcamp) and running DF natively as well (not the best, I know, but it's easier for me).
I'll provide details for everything later (since I haven't been able to update my space in a long time). Just keep your eyes on this thread and good things shall come (or you can try to find some older threads outlining details).
Actually, you can practically read my whole editing history in this board-room alone. Some of them quite sad, others funny. Also outlining the day I released my first level
Ah, the good ol' days (there's that word again... old).

In that case, adding the -shots parameter to dark.exe will allow you to use the DEL key to take screenshots . . . if there is a DEL key on the Mac keyboard . . .

I hate asking for help for something so basic, but could you explain how to do that? I've been a mac user all my life and have only had XP installed on my computer for a couple months (and never used it nearly as heavily as I do now).
But I do have the DEL key.

It's okay, I've never used a Mac, and I'd probably have the same problem . . . right click on your dark forces shortcut and click "properties". On the tab called "shortcut", there should be a space called "Target". It should say something like "C:\dark\dark.exe". Change that to "C:\dark\dark.exe -shots".
Now, if the words aren't exactly the same as above, it may be an old DOS shortcut . . . in which case the instructions are a little different. Right click the shortcut, click "properties", go to the tab "program", the box for "Cmd line", and change "C:\dark\dark.exe" to "C:\dark\dark.exe -shots".
Hope that helps . . . any questions?

Mmm . . . finally got around to playing it, it was awesome, especially the scenery and design. Do you have briefing files for it yet? By the way, what are the TEXT.MSG and JEDI.LVL files doing outside of the GOB? I mean, it works fine, I'm just wondering why you did this . . .

Good question. It was probably for something on my mac, but I can't remember for sure. I'll be sure everything is put together properly when it's all finished.
Briefings are soon to come but are not yet incorporated.
But I'm glad you liked it. Why not write your review in the level review thread?

It ain't dying, just taking a break from it a bit and working on the other big project of mine (Sorry, not Cloudspear 2).
I seem to be suffering from designer's block at the moment for Force Crystal so I'll be working back and forth between projects.
But rest assured, I will finish both
If you want the actual estimates...
Level 1: 99% complete (released one was merely a demo)
Level 2: 20% complete
Level 3: 35% complete
Level 4: 5% complete
Level 5: 1% complete
Level 6: 4% complete
As for my OTHER project...
Level 1: 75% complete (remains from an old project made better)
Level 2: 5%
Level 3: 5%

Windows screenshots in Boot Camp on a Mac: press F14 on an Apple keyboard (or Fn+F11 on a Mac laptop). The screenshot goes to the clipboard. Open Paint (Start menu -> All Programs -> Accessories), paste, and save.

Did you ever send me the GOB to take DarkXL screenshots (just making sure you didn't send it to the wrong e-mail address or something)? I'll take them when you send the GOB, assuming that the level works of course.

Haven't had a chance to do it yet. I'm making alterations to a couple areas because for some reason they HOM like crazy when I don't ever remember them being that bad or there at all.
Once I do that and finish with some texturing I'll send it to you. If I buckle down on it for the next hour or so I'll send it to you before I go to sleep.

Oops, some stuff came up last night and I couldn't send it (Photography of the moon under cover of clouds; really cool looking). Tonight for sure

Just add -shots to the dark forces command line and press DEL to take a screenshot using DF. Outputs using the archaic PCX format.

I know I'm being a pain, but could you explain after pressing DEL? does that get copied to clipboard too?

hmm, I don't use it . . . I just use Dosbox's built in screenshot command . . . I think it's Ctrl+F5 . . . Then again, DEL is a lot simpler.

Ha ha ha... I think I know why it wasn't working. I hadn't updated my drivers for bootcamp so there was still a bug making it so I couldn't use the printscreen shortcut.
If I experiment with it enough, I should have screenies (finally) up when I get home from work later.
