All right, I get what I'm trying to do now. I ripped out tb_grate.3do, gave it the proper extensions so it equaled 32x32 dfu and I tried to texture it with this:



I get this:



Does anybody feel like helping me figure out what the @!#$ I'm doing?

You say this is texturing a 3do? It looks like a ground texture to me.

That, however, may be a clue as to what's going on. In the 3DO, what kind shading are you using? Your options are FLAT, GOURAUD, VERTEX, TEXTURE, GOURTEX, and PLANE. It looks as if you are using PLANE, which acts the same as floor and ceiling textures. That means that like floor/ceiling textures, your texture needs to be 8x8 DFU (or 64x64 pixels.) If you are going to use a texture larger than that, you will need to use TEXTURE or GOURTEX. (Keep in mind that the texture will not automatically repeat, like floors/ceilings do, and will probably be subject to warping.)

If you are trying to create an effect on the ground without warping (using the PLANE command), and that is larger than 8x8 DFU, you will have to break up the texture into different parts, and then piece it all together.

I should point out that simply splitting it into four parts and making a 3do of four 8x8 squares will probably lead to disappointment. Dark Forces is a little funny with texturing floors and ceilings with regards to edges. If you ever look at a sector edge while moving, you may notice that it does not exactly line up with the texture, that the texture kind of shifts a little bit. The same thing would happen with a 3DO and its borders. At the edges, the textures might not line up just right, and the textures might wrap around in bad places. The way around it is to have overlap with your textures. Unfortunately, it's a bit complicated, so I'll only go into it if there's really a demand for it.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. While doing SBoT, I realised that a lot of the 16X16 textures had crazy looking lines and stuff. And since that texture was the one for a majority of my ceilings, I had to go through them all again and retexture them all. It pissed me off after a while.

I learned that only 8x8 DFU textures can be used for floors pretty quick, after being frustrated at numerous controll panels and ceilings looking bizzare...

If that's simply a floor you're trying to texture, I might reccomend that you try using 3dos for the floor.

If that's really a 3do you're trying to texture... Then you should consult someone else like Matt H here, as he easily know a few thouand times more about 3dos than I do...
