Jedi Knight was the direct sequel to Dark Forces, we all know that. But if Jedi Knight was never made, this would most definitely be the sequel to Dark Forces.
The plot basically continues where DF left off, with the brother of General Moch continuing with a new more sinister project even more deadly than the Dark Troopers... Cloaked Troopers!!!!
I have to be honest and say that I was a little skeptical about how it would all work and how the author would be able to pull this off. I was pleasantly surprised.
First off, the detail in architecture is superb. Everything looks great and really does look like a base on some backwater system. No gripes here.
The one thing I was most worried about was the over-use of said cloaked-troopers. Fortunately, the author used them in moderation and where appropriate. The WAX's used for the new troopers were very well done as well.
The plot was great and I'm really pleased how it felt like a continuation of the original plot. The dialogue between Kyle and the final boss was great and really added more atmosphere. Then... there was the escape from the base. The last, say... 2 or 3 minutes of the level is like a real-time cinematic and it was extremely well done.
My hat's off to the author for this piece of art. This level should have really been named Dark Forces 1 1/2.
10/10
