I tried to log onto this site about a month or so ago and the page refused to load. "That's it," I thought. Game over. The mecca for DF enthusuasts has crumbled and gone.

My biggest regret was not having downloaded everything before the site went down in case I ever got the game running again, but I figured that the good old days were finally over.

But today I found this website that sells old games for $6 and so I bought an old classic, Descent. I wondered how they'd get it working, so I bought it and downloaded it. It used DosBox, and I realized that, hey, I now have a PC that can actually run Dosbox at a decent framerate. Coolness. Maybe I could play the original levels again.

So I looked for my DF disk. I can't find the thing anywhere, but that's OK, I thought. Someone must have it for download after all this time. So I googled Dark Forces.

And here you all are. Not, in fact, a crumbled wreck of a place but a community that still has new people and new posts. Wow! I am so happy to be back here again!

When was the last time you had visited? Are you aware of the DarkXL project that's currently under development? More information can be found in the DarkXL section of this site.

I have not, in fact, been here for about 2 1/2 years. How many of the old gang are still around? Barry Brian? MH and PH of Dark Tide glory? Buscemi? Klassen? Jorbo? Murgo? Fenwar? Cheddie? Casey?

As for DarkXL... wow. This is making me happy! I downloaded it any played through secret base and Talay. This is cool! Any relation to Matthias' Dark 3D, or did that never happen? Will it eventually support addon levels? The original 14 are clunky compared to Mt. Kurek and Beyond Glory.

I did in fact find a download of DF and now I have a .iso safely tucked away for a rainy day. Nice. I can't tell you how awesome it's been to be able to play my old favorites again! I'm downloading every single level and adding it to Dark Frontend. And at some point I shall play every single one. That could keep me busy the whole summer!

So. If I were to make a Facebook group for DF-21, would anyone join it?

I'm still here as well. Believe it or not (I know that many people here don't beleive me anymore), I recently started to work again on my Archangel levels. I want to finish the damn trilogy this summer, hopefully in july. I'm actually putting the final touch (texturing 3DOs and battling sophisticated INF) on level 3, while I've greatly improved the architecture of level 1 with new cusotmized textures.

PS: I tried to install DF on XP. No joy. Googled. Found The One's post on some forum ( http://www.lucasforums.com/archive/index.php/t-119594.html ), directing people to http://df-21.net/articles/install.html Realized I was one of the original authors of that article.

So, in the past few days I've started an ambitious project to make a complete DF disk. I have a full install directory, an installer for Dosbox, the custom Dosbox config that I use to make it run well (tweaks courtesy of this tutorial: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php_t=196645) and every level I could download from DF-21. Oh, and it also has Dark Frontend, with a completed Master.ini. And every level has the number of stars the level was rated on the downloads page.

I had a few levels, though, that I could download but not unzip. Can anyone confirm there is a problem with these and/or send me a zip that works?
