Question--have they updated DF to run decent on a Windows platform, or am I still going to be scrounging for DOSBox? Will I finally be able to play Mysteries of the Sith on a modern machine?

Still on DosBox unfortunately. Currently downloading MotS to my laptop right now. I tried DFII a second ago and 3d acceleration still doesn't work right.

DF, JK, and MotS are unmodified, apart from the common no-cd cracks. JK even has the original installer's uninstall data included.

JK is also missing music thanks to no CD. JK also has poor compatibility with modern hardware but the default settings have been changed so that it may run better (but it breaks any community levels with 16-bit textures).

If anybody wants the music for Jedi Knight I would be happy to convert the to mp3 and upload them.
PS Hey Casey, how's it going. Did you ever finish that level?

That's not the point, MP3 files won't work in-game.

[Edit: My experiences are with the Steam version but they are probably identical.]

But mp3s can be burnt on to a disc that can be played in the cd drive while you play the game, duh.

Nope, never finished any DF missions I started on.

Haven't played DF in a long time. Still play SWG on occassionally (I'm sort of a celebrity there--I'm actually known among pilot circles on multiple servers) where I ran/run a flight academy.

Got myself married this summer, too.

Hmmm...wonder if I should pull the old Pentium down from the attic and see if I can dig out any of the old levels I was working on.

I made mention of DarkXL at the Steam forum for the game:

Someone might want to create a detailed topic over there. I would but I need to work in the morning!
