All newly created accounts must be manually approved and activated by myself or lucius.
Thus, any attempts to register impersonating accounts, such as, say, "Barry Brian" or "Barry B." with newly created Yahoo! Mail accounts, will be laughed at and then banned.
That is all.
PS: I didn't make those up.
PPS: lucius stop activating the bots. They use e-mail addresses that don't have a website attached to the domain name. Plus they got numbers at the end of their names and similar domain names for the e-mails. I should probably pm you this but that would take .

No kidding? I didn't think a small community like this would attract much unwanted attention like that.

My apologies, I'm not used to get so many bots - especially for the relative obscurity and size of this community. I'd rather not make signing up seem more of a pain then necessary - but there's not much that can be done about that if this continues.
That said, The MAZZTer, if you wish to discuss site management it should be done via e-mail or PM (as you said at the end of your post). This time it's not a big deal, I haven't run very many forums - certainly none that had bot problems and I appreciate having this stuff pointed out now before it becomes a problem. However there are other circumstances where discussing these things on the forums would be inappropriate. Better to form good habits now (including me being more careful about activating accounts).
Anyway thanks for staying on top of this, The MAZZTer.

Actually that's not what happened Mazzter. Yesterday I was editing my profile because the info, including email address, was out of date. After I changed my email address, I was not able to log back in. I was told my account had been deactivated.
So I went to the contacts page, and your email address is not available on it. I tried to view your profile to get it, but you have to be logged on to do that. Kind of a catch 22 situation.
So I decided to start a new account (Barry B) so I could get your email address, and/or post about my trouble here in the feedback forum.
When starting a new account one cannot give an email address that's already attached to another account, so I had to start a new yahoo mail account just to get in contact. The trouble is that I never received my confirmation email and so I was not able to log on to this account either.
Anyway, for whatever reason my original account is up and running again. If you haven't already, feel free to delete the Barry B one.
And maybe it'd be a good idea to put your email address on the contacts page.

Just checked the yahoo mail and that confirmation mail finally arrived, but it took a while. Anyway, doesn't matter now.

Darn I thought it was something exciting! >_>
And actually I probably should delete the bots next time instead of leaving them for lucius to see and think that I just hadn't activated them yet... >_> And I suppose I'll keep bot talk in PMs, but darn it, it was my first two bots! It's EXCITING! :O
Or ban them, because bans aren't visible on the userlist. And I imagine activating banned accounts doesn't do much.

I guess in a sense it's exciting, it means that the site is attracting some notice beyond our small community at least.

Barry: Actually the bots I was talking about were separate accounts, registered a couple days before you registered your own accounts there. I didn't mean for that comment to seem connected to the bit about your accounts but I can see how it would seem that way.

I know that I just meant I don't actaully understand what it is that bots on forums actually do. Do they spread spam etc?

Yeah they stop by Massassi.net occasionally to advertise shoes at low low prices!
Maybe we should just make registration confirm-by-email instead of confirm-by-admin and just take care of the occasional bot after he posts stuff. Wouldn't be too hard, Massassi makes it look fun even.
