So, what are the odds on getting playable versions of all of the original levels for DarkXL by my birthday this Octobet 17th?
I think this is all I want for my B-day this year. That or a new car, but I don't want to get crazy here.

I asked the same question on my B-day last december, I wouldn't hold your breath for too long.

Keep in mind Lucius is actually busy working on two projects concurrently:
DarkXL and DaggerXL.
I'm certain he's very busy with both.

He seems to be more active with DaggerXL at the moment; probably got a bit burned out on DarkXL. Plus the Daggerfall side is now in a phase that's more interesting to code: implementing new features is more rewarding than fixing niggling little bugs.

It's just frustrating. I've been dying to play Dark Forces with mouselook for well over a decade now. (and lately I've been wanting to play through the trilogy back to back to back, and I've been waiting for DarkXL to be finished before doing it)
This project looks SO CLOSE and yet it seems like it's pretty dead right now. Like Lucius has completely lost interest in favor of Daggerfall (a game I just don't care about personally)

Well even with the new release, the AI will not be completely implemented. So you would still have to wait a while yet.
I don't think it's something to get frustrated over when you really have no control over it and he's doing it by himself and for no financial gain. Just relax and have a bit more patience like the rest of us please.

People who feel entitled for something for free annoy me, people who remind us that we're not entitled anything for free irk me a bit more. Sorry Gundam.

Where in my post did I say that? I don't think I quite put it that way but we all have different ways of interpruting things from over the internet, so whatever.

easy now, I don't feel entitled to anything. I fully understand Lucius is doing this himself for free. Nobody is getting mad at or putting anybody else down.
I just think it's a shame there's more interest in Daggerfall. (I've never been big on RPGs, or tolkienesque fantasy)

To be honest, neither have I. In fact, I'd never heard of Daggerfall until his announcement of his DaggerXL project.
I didn't mean anything bad by what I said (As some people have taken it), but reading the posts made me think to myself that perhaps we're monopolizing Lucius a little too much. We all want to see him finish this and it would be an awesome boost for the Dark Forces community, and it would be disappointing if he decided to drop the project. But considering that if that were ever the case, he at least made a valiant effort and we should support it one way or another.
On another note to the contrary, if he truly wasn't interested in finishing what he started, I'm sure he wouldn't have taken it upon himself to run the website in light of Fenwar's exit.
Not trying to case anyone, just trying to be the voice of reason.

I highly anticipate the next release of both DaggerXL and DarkXL.
Both of these titles are games I've enjoyed playing in the past, and look forwards to being able to play both of them again on newer hardware and OSes.
As long as Lucius continues to update the blogs, and continues to be an active presence on the forums, I am perfectly happy to wait for whatever comes next.
I know it will be worth it, in the end.

25 is grand. I turned 27 recently. Freaked out a bit. If I was druggie rock star I'd be in big trouble. Good thing I'm not.

That whole thing was hilarious. He thought he'd entered a different dimension in which everything was the exact same as our dimension except for one 3d model in a computer game that looked slightly different to its counterpart. What a nut.

Sorry to disappoint you.
I do not know who Sheldon is. I've only been active on these forums for a few months, since I discovered both DaggerXL and DarkXL.

Oh yeah I remember you. Also had some epic flame wars with Mattias if I recall correctly.
Barry is 27? Time flies.

Sorry guys that DarkXL has been slow lately. The project isn't dead, however. As I've stated in this topic (the last post that I made) I won't release another DaggerXL build until I also release another DarkXL build - which is what I'm actively working on now. The idea is to force myself to spend equal amounts of time working on both, which is what I had intended to do to begin with.
And yes Daggerfall (and DaggerXL) is more popular, and probably will continue to be, but that doesn't mean I don't like Dark Forces or DarkXL anymore. Unfortunately, since this is stuff I do in my free time, it's easy to get swept up implementing cool new stuff rather then pushing through issues. However once I'm past those issues we can get back to some cool new features for DarkXL too (secondary fire, logics, extended features, finishing the editor and so on).
One last thing, I still intend to see this project completed. In fact that intention never wavered, even when my attention did.

What? You must be joking.
CyberCraft Dark3D is going to be 100 times better when it is released.
