|
|
I've recently tried upgrading darkforces onto a vista. The game is installed, but every time i try to run DARK.EXE, a message comes up and says:
"Error: This system does not support fullscreen mode."
I've tried resolution changes, changing properties on DARK.EXE (I assumed that wouldn't work).
And now I'm officially stuck as to what to do. If anyone has figured out how to fix this problem, please help. Thank you.

Are you trying to do this without DOSBox?

Windows Vista and above no longer support full screen consoles or DOS applications (or, it may be a limitation of nVidia's video drivers. I'm not sure). You will need to use a different DOS emulation other than the built-in one, which has always been unsuitable for DOS gaming anyway.
DOSbox is the recommended method.

Yeah, I use Dosbox on Vista and haven't had any problems with it so far. Though I'd definitely suggest you add this to the bottom of your dosbox.conf file so you don't have to redo it every time you play DF:
mount C C:\
C:
cd dark
Of course, just change the directory if you have DF installed anywhere other than C:\.

You can just drag the Dark.exe to dosbox and there you go.
