In the past I promised to release the DarkXL source code at some future date.
I've made some large strides in getting the next build out - honestly the largest hurdle this project has or will face - so the path to beta seems clear and relatively smooth (not to say there won't be issues, but they will be small relatively speaking).
So once the beta has been released (which isn't the next build but in the near future), I will also release all the source code for DarkXL as promised - after spending some time to clean it up and document it properly. I will continue to work on the project beyond beta and release, including the editing tools, multiplayer and bug fixes, but at that point onward the source will be available to anyone. Hopefully the project will be far enough along to avoid massive forking and clone projects, and the code should be organized and clean enough to actually be useful as well.

Lucius,
That is excellent news. I hope that another group can pick it up, and start helping you implement/test things.

I recommend Google Code. I've never put anything on there but you get source control and a bug tracker both of which could be incredibly useful.
SourceForge is popular too but I don't think that gives you bug tracking.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I was planning on using Codeplex since I already use it for feature tracking. If that doesn't work out for some reason (too slow or other issues) then I'll take another look at Google Code.

SF does have bug tracking, my bad. It's just buried under other stuff.

SourceForge sucks, stick with Codeplex or Google code.
