Hi Guys, a few questions for the experts:
1: I made a custom texture and made part of the texture purple (252,0,252). Then I converted it to BM format using the transparent switch (2DF /B /T image.bmp). I thought this would make the purple parts of the image transparent, but it didn't. The texture just shows up with purple in a SECBASE based level. What did I do wrong? OR How should I make a partially transparent texture?
2: Is there a way to rotate a DF texture 90 degrees? OR should I make a custom texture from it that faces the way I want?
3: I've been using WDFUSE to create a level. Is there a way of adding textures to a level visually? I'm finding it difficult to imagine how the level looks while texturing in WALL and SECTOR modes. The JED editor for DF2:JK used a 3d window for adding textures and it was good.
4: I'm using DarkXL to test my level geometry and I wonder if there is anyway to take screenshots.
Thank you very much, Dino.

This response is way late, I know, but here are a few answers to some of your questions.
1) The reason your transparent texture is turning purple is because the the purple pixels are indeed purple and not for transparent parts of your texture. You need to use pure black for that (forgot the hex number for it though). If you were using the tutorial here, that is just to check which areas are transparent, the purple just helps to make sure the areas you want transparent are.
2) The only way to rotate a texture is to extract it from DF and rotate it in the image editor of your choice and reconvert it to a BM.
3) 'Fraid not, none of the DF editors have had that feature, as helpful as that would be to have...
4) Still not quite clear on this one myself.

2: The only option that the DF engine gives you in order to modify the orientation of your texture without the need to create an additional purpose-built file is "horizontal flipping". You do this by modify the flag #1 of the wall.

3) The closest you'll get to that is WEDIT's instant preview -- you change the view to perspective and you can walk around in the level like in DF.
4)Mmm, don't have DarkXL installed on this computer, but I know there was a screenshot key. I'll check in a minute . . .
EDIT: Yeah, it's CTRL+F8.
