Kyle Katarn was previously mentioned in an NJO novel, and I've found his name mentioned again in passing in The Unifying Force.

The passage reads:

Quote:
Han had always considered him the most military-minded Jedi-Keyan Farlander and Kyle Katarn notwithstanding-and a year earlier Kenth had been named to Chief of State Cal Omas's Advisory Council, along with Jedi Masters Luke, Kyp Durron, Cilghal, Tresina Lobi, and Jedi Knight Saba Sebatyne.

Is that fixed?

What's up with this page? To me, half of Casey's post is cut off...

So it isn't just me, or any of the quirks my university's network seems to be going through right now... I think I'll check the page source... I wonder how that was done?

...I checked the page source, but I can't seem to find anything that would cut off the post like that... But here's the quote that was chopped off:

I wonder how he got the header to the quote to say "Quote:", instead of "...Wrote:"?

On the subject of Kyle Katarn, If Jerec was so powerful, how did a guy who found lightsaber in a garage beat him so easily?

As far as I know, the trapped Jedi in the Valley helped him.

I think I remember hearing something about him being mentioned in "Remnant" as well.

Yes, he was. By the time I finished The Unifying Force he appeared in two scenes and actually spoke once.

It's nice to know that, even if he doesn't get a major part, he is recognized as officially existing.

Heehee... That's the funiest way I've ever heard that put...

I never really thought about that... Because the only link I have to the story is the game (I have yet to read the last book), I really only thought it was possible because hey, it was me playing! Very Happy

Well, there is the backstory of how the Valley was created, for starters.

I seem to remember reading about him in a NJO book where luke is complaining because several Jedi masters were not @ the council, including Kyle. Guess that means Kyle is a Jedi Master officially Smile

He probbly already was, but hey, I've forgotten more about DF & Star Wars in general in the last year then most have known Wink

I think it was from an Al MacDonald comic.

Rahn may also have been helping him; I'm not sure.

I've always had problems with the way kyle became a Jed master pretty much overnight. Plus the 'Valley of the Jedi' thing was a bit too much for me. Leave the force alone! Midichlorians, Force Crystals, bah!

Jerec looks like Frasier.

The silliest part to me was that our increase in power was determined by what secret areas you found... And that "Force Speed" was the first thing you got, AHEAD of "Force Pull", and "Force Jump". Also, I could never quite get over the fact that the JK lightsaber blades consist of three faces: The base, the tip, and a face that always faced towards the player for the actual blade.

Of course, I also find it strange that Jerec uses what appears to be "Force Destruction" in the cutscenes to devastating effect, yet he's nowhere near as tough in actual combat. Why didn't Kyle just finish Jerec, Sariss, and Boc right after Maw? I could take them all at once! I've yet to create a level like that yet, though...

Interesting concept. I'm not sure I see why Force Speed first is silly, though; Kyle could run already run near that speed in DF, after all.

(I will concede that introducing the concept of Force Protection to Star Wars may have been a silly idea.)
