Just the other day, I was playing a fine game called Halo. I was admiring the beauty of the waterfalls, when I realised I could produce a similar one for my Dark Forces Level.

However there's 2 things I dont know.

#1. How many frames can an animated wax have?
#2. Is it possible to scroll the bottom texture and sign texture at different speeds at the same time?

Any help would be appreciated.

#1 I'm gonna say 32 (?), Maybe, I dunno for sure- but - it's also dependent on the size of each frame in the WAX, too big and it may crash. Once again it is a matter of trial and error.

#2 No. Maybe you should try overlapping layers of transparent adjoining middle BMs instead and scroll them at different speeds. Or- you could also try "flickering" the front adjoining middle BM by toggling its flag on and off at an extremely fast rate.

Why don't you try and get back to us?

Thnks for the Wax info. The resaon I wanted that way is because if I add any more sector to the are, Im gonna start to HOM (Which it does sometimes, but is barely noticeable. Also, theres a sector at the top of the water fall. If I did it with the overlapping adjoined layers, the waterfall yould fall from the sky.

*Bangs head against wall*

Ill think of somethin.

Ooh just had inspiration... Say the waterfall is 100 units high. I I make a sign texture thats a hundred units tall, do the overlapping adjoins, and make the sign scroll, would it only scroll within that hundred units?

I'm gonna say no. I think. Bear in mind, the engine isn't that advanced, so, I mean, there isn't even an if statement in the inf, I don't think there's a way to have a texture sense its dimesnions...

No. DF cannot possibly be expected to know the dimensions of a texture. I've been trying to make a decent-looking waterfall for a level I'm working on, and using the same ideas you are. I've had no luck so far. Unfortunately, I can't think of a way to get textures to scroll different ways, or else I'd have already posted screenies.

(speaking of which, I've made an acomplishment with INF - something usefull/nifty that hasn't been done before. I'll post screens, assuming I can refrain from being lazy long enough)

Is it adjoined to a sector behind it?

Take whatever.wax, copy it, and paste in the folder of the project of your choice, within the Wdfuse folder. Easy.

Yes, and please try not to post in old threads that have died (this one wasn't terribly old, but it was aging :p). You'd might have gotten a slightly quicker responce if you made a new topic... maybe... .'/

And anyways, it's considered bad form to "hijack" a thread. Smile

Just wanted to let you know.

I prefer Concussion commandos... Although you really can't use them as effective bosses...

As far as DTs go, it is my opinion that DT Is are fairly great enemies. They are perfect (well, almost) for jedi-type enemies, or can be used for other things, as well. DT IIs, in my opinion, are next to worthless in levels. They always drop both plasma cartridges AND missiles, and a combination plasma cannon-missile launcher is just too much, you have to give up a whole weapon to use that logic. As for DT IIIs, I think they are only suited as A singlular boss... So far, the only good use (in my opinion) that they have shown is for a non-lightsaber jedi, such as the C'Boath clone in Mt. Kurek.

For making fights with enemies difficult, I usually use stormtroopers and commandos. They result in quick fights, and if placed creatively (up on a ledge, already having cover, etc.), they can make things FAR more tricky. Use generators (and tripple the "PLAYER" logics) to come up with a hyper-challenging level!

I'm planning to use 2 DT1s and a DT3 in my upcoming series The Jedi Crystal (Because SBoT crapped out on me). But they will all have new looks. The phase ones will be two twin sisters who are skilled assassins (Who's swords are made of phrik metal Wink ). But I'm not going to tell you what the Phase 3 will be used for.

As for the waterfall stuff, I'm going to try and incorporate that as well. Wouldn't it be possible to make an animated sign texture, and then paste it on to a scrolling wall to make a different effect? Like a water scrolling texture along with a misty kind of effect as the sign and paste that onto a wall to make it appear as if one is moving faster than the other? Sure it would be choppy (depending on the fps you use), but it would probably look pretty cool.

Just a reminder: new topics are highly recomended for any subjects that are notably different. If you're talking about different projects, that's enough to merit another thread. Thank you.
