I know I should be finishing Spice Bust on Taloron right now, but I couldn't help but start up a new project while the idea's still fresh.
:: Prepares to be beaten to death ::
This story is to take place between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back and will be a miniseries of 6 levels. Hopefully I won't go overboard with this one and make it overly guady. Though it will have its eye candy, the levels will be short enough to be completed in 10 to 20 minutes tops. So all together, it'll be about the length of a normal big level found here (Like DAI and others). I'll also be working on three new waxes, at least two new weapons, and possibly some new 3DOs.
As a teaser, there will be locations on an iceplanet, a space station, a volcanic planet, and a jungle planet. If I told you the other two places, it might reveal a little more than I want to at this point. I'm also going to try and make new geological effects for each of the planets you encounter. A volcanic eruption (a la Mt. Kurek), a blizzard, and a meteor shower (most likely in the exterior bitmaps for a better effect). I promise I'll make this one cool!
Now I haven't abandoned SBoT, I just lost interest on it temporarily. I've been having problems with the completion elevator that I can't really diagnose so I kinda gave it the heave-ho for now. I'm sure I'll get back to it in a day or so. So not to worry! This one will be finished.... eventually (Because I'm never good with personal deadlines).

Well, I'm liking your idea of a volcanic planet. I'd thought of that idea before, and then decided that that wasn't an idea for me to put to use, that somebody else should take it. Apparently, you're that person.
BTW, as far a SBoT, you haven't sent me the files to convert back for it... Have you found another way (or person) to do it? Also, I could examine your INF file for you... I think I've gotten rather good at it, and have even made a few breakthroughs I'll announce anywhere from a few minutes to a few days... I wouldn't need the whole GOB, only the .INF, presuming that's where the problem is (If it is, then DF will crash almost immediately upon loading the level, and give you an error message, sometimes blinking it by before you can see it).

I think what I'll do is send you a text version of the INF file as a word document. I actually looked through a lot of it and literally found no errors so I don't know what the deal is. I'm thinking there is a code hidden in one of my scripts that may have messed with the complete sector, because it had undergone extreme re-editing since I started it. Pretty much, it works up to the point where you need to finish the final objective. I haven't made the complete sector silent, so in one area before completeing the last objective, you can here the elevator noises very rapidly moving, as if a code is conflicting with it. But in order to find out what that problem is, you'll have to go through about 400 INF script entries. I went through a lot of the main ones and couldn't find a single problem though. Maybe I did it wrong because there is a BOSS sector, but it doesn't conribute to the complete sector in any way. I might actually delete that sector and see what happens. but really, this is the only problem that's keeping me from completing the damned thing.
As for the LFD files, you're still the man for it. I just haven't finished them yet. But I will let you know when I have finished them.
I'd post screens of the new project, but I accidentally deleted the first GOB and the second one doesn't have enough to really show yet. At least now I have a better idea of what I'm doing. But I'm going to add some new features to each level, whether it's puzzles, scenery, or enemies. It's going to rely more on exploring than blasting badies to hell, although that will be reserved for the last level. promise, if SBoT isn't all it measures up to, I will make Jedi Crystal really fun.

Keep backups. Although I really should get an online server to also store mine, I currently settle for one backup on the HDD (aside from the working copy), one on floppy, and one on CD. Of course, my memory of them is so well (I wrote that walkthrough for NTK_SB a few days after I'd last opened/played the level), that I could re-create them almost perfectly, should my highly redundant backup systems fail.

Okay, with Spice Bust on Taloron in the ER right now, I may as well make a few more descriptions for Jedi Crystal.
-Will be a six (maybe 7) level GOB.
-Will feature a jungle level, volcanic level, a
ruined temple level, and a level completely underwater.
-Up to 8 new enemies, one that is NOT a wax.
-4 new weapons replacing thermal detonators, reapeter, fussion cutter, and concussion rifle.
So far, I have part of the new DT1 design completed, and I think their presence and appearance will add a unique flavor to the series. I have yet to start on other waxes though.
Right now, I'm trying to design unique and interesting puzzles as well as find ways to make the environment interactive.
Levelsin Progress:
Level 1: Outpost on Tarrack
The imperials have discovered hyroglyphics on the planet Tarrack that may lead to the where-abouts of the legendary Jedi Crystal. The imperials are taking this legend seriously and have begun to decipher these texts. Most of this information has already been deciphered and written onto a supercomputer in a nearby outpost. Legend or not, the Jedi Crystal must not be discovered. Infiltrate the outpost and make a copy of the information on a tape, and return to The Crow.
Level 2: The Jungles of Irium
The information Kyle stole contains a list of three specific planets with very specific coordinates. The planets are Irium VIII, Liire, and Mar Serema II. The first stop is jungle planet Irium VIII. Kyle must force his way through the thick foliage and deep jungles to find out what the coordinates locate.
Level 3: Volcanic Caves of Liire
Liire, a planet plagued by volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. Kyle must trek the volcanic caves and avoid flash lava flows to find what the next coordinates locate.
Level 4: The Underwater Castacombs of Mar Serema
Many small clusters of islands lie on the surface of this nearly entirely submerged planet of Mar Serema. Kyle must swim to the deepest depths of the ocean and avoid strong currents and other dangers that the underwater world may hold.
Level 5: The Ruins of Tillios
All places previously visited have lead Kyle and Jan to the ancient planet of Tillios that was nearly destroyed by a massive meteor shower, Meteors still fall over the forsaken planet. This could be the final place where the crystal may be. Time to see if the legend is true.
Level 5b(?): The Ancient Temple
After opening the main door, Kyle has found himself in a labrynth of traps and other dangers. Kyle must navigate the temple to make fact of fiction.
Level 6: Star Destroyer Dark Hydra
Kyle and Jan have been captured. Kyle and Jan must find a way to escape, as well as kill the madman, Merrik, who was after the crystal in the first place. An epic battle is to ensue. Good luck!
Hopefully this will spark some interest. But this is all I'm going to tell about it. I've probably ruined too much of it already.

Indeed, but perhaps you could have Kyle destroy the computer system in Level 1, or at least erase the file on the mail computer after he get it.... it would make sense.
Of course, the Imperials would have carefully backed it up and hidden it somewhere, as Jan would tell you in the briefing for level 2.

I could make a really unfunny joke about the Imps forgetting to back it up, but I don't want to Salt James wounds.

I wanted to do that so there was little evidence (besides the murdered stormies) that kyle was even there, making his appearence in the next levels more covert rather than the impies expecting him to be there. Although the impies will eventually find a pattern, and this will all be explained in levels 5 and 6. I don't want to give away too much of the plot.
It all works, trust me.

The plot sounds nice... How much/how big are each of the levels?

Glad you like the plot. The levels should be reasonably small, but large enough to last a while. They will be roughly the size of an average DF level so anywhere from 300 to 600 sectors. I started on the first level last night, and I'm currently at I believe 76. I'll post screenies soon.
