Cool level set on the remains of the Arc Hammer

I just received this mail from the author:

Hi Barry:

This is really amazing. I never expected such a long life for those levels
(my own as well as many of those excellently designed levels such as MtKurek
or the Bounty Hunt, just to name two). Thanks for your efforts to keep DF and
all those levels alive.

I also never expected DF to have such a long life, although it doesn't really
come as a surprise. Having played DF, JK and MOTS, I still think that the
atmosphere was superior in DF, and never surpassed. Yes, the newer engines
are better, but does this go for the game, too?

I stumbled into your Hunt for the Arc Hammer thread - I remeber that I got
some critique (justifiedly so), and shortly thereafter released a revised
version that never spread over the Net. Would you be interested if I dug out
that version and sent it to you?

Also, if you wish, you may post this message somewhere - I'd like to express
my thanks to those who still play my levels and who gave me those positive
reviews.

Mark

A revised edition. Sounds pretty cool, I'll look forward to playing it.

Oh, yes!

A SE! Sweet!

Makes older versions appreciate in value!

Thanks again, Mark!

Dude, don't stroke our levvels. It's stuupid.

Hey, if the H4AH author is reading this, how the heck do I get past the door into the Executor?

The author did an excellent job recreating what Arc Hammer would look like after Kyle had finished with it. A revised edition sounds great!

I had to dig deep this weekend. Particularly ugly since I completely moved over to Linux and had to revive an old Windoze box. I found it, though.

Anyway, I don't want to get your expectations too high. This is not really a SE, but rather a version where I fixed some sections that were critiqued, primarily the dull white halls around the droprooms. Judge by yourself.

To the question how to get the doors... *which* doors? There are several. The ones with the eyes?

BTW, I must be getting old. No piece of cake anymore winning against my own level in EASY?!?

japh wrote:
Yes, the eyes.

Mark Haidekker wrote:
Ok, in response to Japh - here is a spoiler. So stop reading here if you want to try this on your own first. Those eyes need to be switched simultaneously (something like Jungles of Caldoun, armory), and normally there are two Commandos posted to do the job. I guess at this time you have disposed of them, so that won't work any more. Well, the time window is somewhat larger than Caldoun. The trick is to place yourself close to one eye and shoot the far eye first, turn *fast* almost while shooting and shoot the near one next. It works best with the Bryar, btw. Hope that helps.

How do you open the door on the Executor with the three handprint buttons?

Maybe someday I'll actually releases something...

Mark Haidekker wrote:
Hey Taton, that can't be a real problem for DF experts like you. Did you notice that you get zapped with a small electrical charge whenever you enter a wrong number? Push each button repeatedly until you get zapped, then you know that you pushed once too often. Only if that doesn't help you I'll tell you the combination.

japh wrote:
Thanks. That's diabolical! More questions: how do you get the blueprints? How do you get on the bridge?

Barry Brien wrote:
I had to use Landmines to propel myself upwards to reach the blueprints. Ouch.

japh wrote:
Mark! Please post the solutions!

Hey, Mark Haidekker! How fantastic to see you here.

I remember years ago when me and my brother Alan were asking you about Jungles, one of our favorites. How many times I played that map and had so much fun.

BTW, if you are doing any SE's, how about fixing the sky in Jungles? It looks so artificial and stitched.

Mark told me the solution once. Do you REALLY want to know?

Yes.
