This level is not worth playing.
It boasts a terrbile plot: Your ship has crashed and you have landed on the Darktrooper's fun center. Find the leader, Darth Vader and kill him!
You start off in an interior space with your ship half buried in the wall and a gamorrean gurad tearing chunks off you from behind. It's then that you reaise that this level is going to be one of those levels.
this level is the natural successor to mines. Every aspect of it is bad, comically bad at times. Expect massive homming, randomly shaped rooms, haphazard item placement. Texturing seems to have been an afterthought.
The author really needs to learn a lot before releasing any more levels. He also needs to realise that this isn't Wolfenstein 3d. One can experiment with altitudes, stairs, elevators, skies, etc.
One aspect of the level that I did like was that because you aren't supplied with sufficient weapons, you must avoid the dark troopers, which is nearly fun in this closed space environment.
All in all this is still a pityful effort.
Final score: 1/10

MAtthew, please give us a break.
First, take the time to learn something about Dark Force editing. Take apart a good level and see what's in it.
When you come up with any kind of decent level, then release it.
And Jackson, please set some mimimum standard for a level to be released. This nonsense is making the community a joke.

That's a bit harsh Sheldon. Matthew is eager, and that's a good thing. Fresh blood for this community is whats required. And his releases are gradually approaching a standard. I remember when I first got into df editing all those years ago I was very eager to release a level, without knowing too much about edoiting. Learning all there is to know is a monumental task and it can be quite daunting. He just needs some encouragement.

I didn't say that Matthew has no talent and will never release a level worth playing.
All I said was that the levels so far are not worth downloading or even considerating tham as levels at all. They are worse than Coobler or Mines, if that is possible.
What I did say is that Matthew and others take the time and effort to learn map editing and if and when they have a map worth playing, then release it.
Even recently, we have first time releases of level authors that are good maps.
I don't see what is wrong with asking would be authors to get their skills up to something reasonable before releasing a map. It would be better all around.

I agree with you, but all I'm saying is that there was no need to be harsh about it. We want to encourage, not to discourage.

I can't decide which is more funny, the level or Barry's review?

I remember making my first level. Ah the days of being young and stupid and knowing nothing about computers. I built a small level that was along the same lines, but just to experiment. But in its own way, I thought it was well done. But for the sake of everyone here, it will never be released... unless someone wants to see my very early work.
Back on topic though...
Maybe this was just an author's first few attempts at editing... or maybe he was just trying to be funny. Barry is right in saying it sucks, but that doesn't mean that Matthew's future works will .
1.2 of 10 (I thought it was humorous and that's good enough for me).

My first level is my only level...still in progress almost 2 years later. As you go through you can pick out the amateur parts of the level and then the less amateur parts.
I included in the gob a pretty disgusting level too...among others...
