Hi guys,
We apologize for the delay on Gall and Watto's, but we just picked up a few new projects and feel like a waiter slammed by too many restaurant patrons.
Anyway, since the Project Page links for Gall and Watto's currently lead to the same index.html, we have it in mind to install the latest NRI access terminal. We know it's an abstract concept at this point, but take a l66k at http://df-21.net/projects/cory_buford/index.html and we'll try to add something every day for the next week or so.
May the Force be with you...always...

FYI,
We just added two animated GIF images based on BMs called jwcomp2.gif and garam6u.gif to the NRI Access Terminal page. Please feel free to download them and let us know what you think.

After actually being able to test it, I like the work you've done. It makes the site far more immersive - a plus when usign a fantasy theme such as Star Wars. However, it galls me to see that the first link doesn't go anywhere yet, and then I am prompted to enter a name again as it reloads the page. Is there any way to perhaps use a small cookie to remember the name?

We're glad you like the page thus far. We will be getting the first elements of the "Gall" page up shortly; after seeing how well this goes over. As for the cookies, we're sure it's possible, but do not have much experience with them as we normally practice less intrusive forms of marketing. We will definitely look into it though. As always, any help would be greatly appreciated.

As for cookies, one can easily design them so that they can't be used for commerical purposes... Although I have no experience, I do have knowledge that one could simply make it like a standard-issue loggin cookie, which dies after the end of the session.
Keep up the good work; I highly anticipate updates.

Hello again,
The cookie sounds like a good idea. We're glad you like the NRI page thus far and have added iwram5a.gif, iwram6a.gif and tweaked the marquee a little. The only down side with using images as CSS backgrounds is that they much be actual size so as not to repeat. Therefore, since we will soon need far more than 2MB for our images alone, we plan on remote linking to our server for the Watto and Gall pages. We will, however, try to have both moved there sometime tomorrow.
May the Force be with you...always...

Hello all,
As promised, we have relocated Watto's and uploaded Gall to our server and linked them through the NRI Access Terminal. They can be reached at:
http://www.gwmo.com/df-21/gall/gall.html
and
http://www.gwmo.com/df-21/watto/watto.html
Although there is not much more than an intro for Gall, we do hope you enjoy it. Since we did have to remote link, please be patient and hold your curser over the Commandos, computers, and the door; you won't regret it.
PS: the rollover image for the door really is a screen shot from inside the starting sector of Gall.

You mean .com, not /com
Here's how to do cookies with PHP:
setcookie("name", "value", time_when_expires);
For the expire time, use time() + the number of seconds you want it to last. 31536000 seconds is one year, the value I like to use use.
setcookie("name", "value", time() + 31536000);
You must set cookies before any output text is sent. This is because cookies are sent to the browser in the HTTP headers, which are sent BEFORE output text.
To retrive the cookie value:
$_COOKIE['name']
There you go.
[Edit: Whenever I moved over an item on your Gall page, it changed the page location and downloaded a WAV file. Quite annoying. Use JavaScript instead plz. .'/
Ie:
<!-- This can go anywhere in the body -->
<span id="boing"></span>
<script type="text/javascript">
function onMouseOverDoThis() {
document.getElementById("boing").innerHTML = '<embed src="whee.wav" loop="1" hide="1" idon'tknowthiscommandwelllookupthesyntaxyourselfthx />';
}
function onMouseOutDoThis() {
document.getElementById("boing").innerHTML = '';
}
</script>

We're glad you like it DB We just converted the sounds to be onMouseover JavaScripts, with a preloader, and are now working on preloading the images on Gall and setting the cookie, Chocolate Chip or White Chocolate and Macadamia, for the NRI Terminal.

Hello again,
Just wanted to mention that we added multiple onMouseover functionality to the left and right Commandos! Now they not only say "HALT!" but aim at you! (Yes, we know their posterior foot is misaligned with the wall; "It's on our to do list OK!")
