I'm not sure what level it is and that is why I am asking but I remember a level were you had to blast a switch to proceed. Does anyone remember the level (or figure out what I am talking about)?

Yeah level 6 at main entrance, there's a few blast switches in 6. A few in 7 Ramsees Hed too, where you shoot the switch to raise the floor so you can proceed to get out of the red key room for instance.
