|
|
I was gaming the other day, and got in a debate about Dark Forces.
View number 1:
The "DT3" never existed, the final boss was just Mohc in a battle suit (hence the tracking missles and all)
View number 2:
Mohc was the first DT3 operator. The DT3 are amoured battle suits allowing Imperial Troopers the Glory of Battle(R).
View number 3:
The DT3, rather than handled by a computer, was radio controlled by Mohc, allowing the Glory of Battle(R) without danger to life and limb.
View number 4: (this one is a little strange)
Mohc, sure of himself and his project, had his brain surgically implanted in the latest DT prototype.
Where do you stand? I'm mostly at 2, maybe a little three.

I think it was number 2 as well. However Starwars Villains have this thing about showing up again when their supposed to be dead.

I always figured he was inside it, why else would he scream(moan?) when he goes down?
So I'll go for 2 as well.

Oh yes, I'm pretty sure that it's #2, but don't forget that they can be automated. There doesn't have to be a human inside.

Considering the evolved Dark Troopers in Jedi Academy, and some descriptions in the EU texts, I'd say #2 sounds most reasonable.

I thought this thread would be discussing Dark Tide 3 O_o...
I definately believe it's 2.

If I say number 4, will I start a contraversy?
If not, I still say its number 2...

I've argued in favor of #4 before, Manning. You have my wholehearted support on that one.
And not #3. Radio-controlled shmadio-controlled.

I'd pick #2. The Expanded Universe (EU) at www.starwars.com says that they can also be automated... Perhaps they can be adapted for each mission?
As for JA, a return of Dark Troopers makes it much more interesting... ([i]i don't have JA either)Mattias, do you think they were meant to be DTs? If so, that would yield an interesting plot twist of a sort... Just don't spoil it for me...

My bad, sorry.

I remember reading somewhere that the DT3 troopers could be worn as a suit, but they could also act independantly, like the other Dark Troopers.

I've heard some old people who left adament notes in their readmes about the DT3 "Never existing."

I often question the official Star Wars website's entries, but if that is the canon we're to accept, I think it's pretty clear that General Mohc was in a combat shell himself when he fought Kyle. If the DT3 suit was capable of acting on it's own, I see where the debate here is.
My thought was that obviously Rom must have had his own personal combat outfit made by the time he fought Kyle, since he was so fanatical about the honour of personal combat. Perhaps his ultimate plan was to upgrade Imperial Stormtroopers to Dark Troopers. (This kind of makes sense in the context of that whole conversation that is found in jedisfx.lfd) Anyway, why would Mohc want a machine to have the pleasure of killing Kyle when he was so "worthy" for himself?
