Despite the fact that INF doesn't seem to work on any newly created sectors, Cloudspear is just about finished. There's just a few things that still need to be done.
I'm not sure what happened with Casey Neumiller, but I never got the recorded lines that I needed. That's OK, though. Someone else can do them. It's only two lines with no acting talent necessary.
And I could still use one more tester...

Well, gee, I still got DF installed. I'd be happy to test your masterpiece, oh great goat...person...thing. Anyways, yeah.

All right, I'm all set with everything then.
Hopefully, it'll be ready to go by the end of the day. (With just enough time to blame the testers for not getting it out before January! Ha!!! I'm a genius!)

Can't anything just be easy?
Now *ALL* INF has stopped working on sectors over number 2023. The game just acts as though the definitions aren't even there. They worked before, so I don't know what's going on...
The only way I've figured to get around this is going into the LEV file and manually switching the sectors over 2023 with lower numbered ones with no INF on them. Obviously Cloudspear is indefinately postponed... Nuts....

Yeah, there is a mysterious curse that befalls all of my DF projects just before launch. Same thing happened to me right before releasing both episodes of The Dark Tide.

do you know its a problem with the level, and not a problem with the game on your comp? You could still send it here and I could run a test using a mac.

Strange... I've never really had any problems with the stubborn INF like that. It usually simply came for no apparent reason at all; my original project got to over 2300 sectors, and all the INF was flawless. However, now that I cut the lever down, and largely re-did it, and I'm now back to about 700, I got some hitches at arround 300, but it's just for a few doors; my special select-a-floor elevators work just fine, and the one I have is using some of sectors 550-600.

I got it!
There seems to be a limit of 512 INF items. Since WDFUSE puts the definitions into the INF file in order of sector number, it was the higher number ones that were "falling off the bottom" of the list so to speak.
This is great. Now that I know what I'm up against, I can deal with it. Cloudspear is back on track. It's going to take a little while to get things in order, but that's the way it goes. Yeehaa, woohoo, and all that...

512 INF files only? Is this a Dark Forces value, or a WDFUSE limit?

Also, if I may ask, how can you reduce the number of INF items while still keeping the level to work as planned? Or are you just going to throw away some minor decorative INF details?
Because as far as I know, INF structure is not too redundant.

What I'm doing is consolidating a lot of the flickering/pulsating light effects using "slaves". I shouldn't have to remove anything noticaable like doors or elevators.
All ready, at least 20 or so sequences have been removed. It's really great to watch the INF at the end of the level start working again one sector at a time.

Also, are you using more than one item on the same sector? Because if you are, I think I found that in Lucasarts levels, when they had more than one item, they just listed it as:
Item: sector name:
seq...
seqend
seq...
seqend
An editor of you caliber knows this already I am sure, but, just in case....

Somebody should put that 512 INF item limit into some kind of article, addendum, FAQ, or something. Slaves are definitely always a good idea though. Scape, are you sure you shouldn't be using more than one LEV file this time? Bad Scape Goat!
Still, its great to hear when people use a lot of INF to flavor their levels with lots of dynamic life. I eagerly await this level, and am extremely embarrassed that you beat me to a release date.

It'll be over 2100 sectors and over 500 INF sequences, but it really doesn't feel that big. Without rushing, I can easily play through it in about 20 / 25 minutes.

You'd think that, wouldn't you? It's really nothing overly spectacular, though. Good amount of detail, but not much more than DaI.
Of course, it's 20 minutes if you know your way around and know all the puzzles.
The testers SHOULD have it by tomorrow night...

I didn't get through DaI for about an hour or two though, lol. It seemed huge, so what I'm asking is: is it bigger than DaI?

No cutscenes. Would of been nice, but... you know...
Cloudspear is bigger than DaI in some ways, but shouldn't take nearly as long to play through.
And where's Manning with those lines? I'm starting to think there's some sort of conspiracy going on. Guess it's time to improvise...
