This one's fairly open-ended: I'd like suggestions as to what I could do to make DF-21 better for everyone.

Off the top of my head, I'd like to:

Add more threads to the Reviews forum
(not all of the missions have topics there yet);

Rejuvenate interest in the Articles section
(having more interviews, walkthroughs, tutorials and the like); and:

Produce the "Installing & Configuring DF" article to end all "Installing & Configuring DF" articles
(Because that would be nice, to say the least).

Any other ideas?

Nice to see the initiative, I support it.

From my side, I will soon release the article of Walkthrough for the Fortress Quadrigon, still now I often receive E-mails with questions about the puzzles.

Maybe we would need to add one section "How to build your own level", with some easy-easy-easy articles with DF editing basics. That could also increase the traffic here and attract some visitors.

I like the idea of having a section devoted to simple level-building... this could definitely help new authors out, and would probably help the community as a whole more than anything, actually.

Once this next week and a half (of finals and papers and insomnia -- oh my!) is past, I plan to start concentrating on improving the site.

By the way, Fish, feel better.

Pronto.

I command it!! Smile

Even just a demo with a bunch of sewage monsters would rock...

Maybe.

I'd settle for me figuring out how to get DF to not lock-up when starting it on my "new" (my only-one-year-old Athlon64) machine, without any form of silly emulation. I've gotten each and every other DOS-based game I possess to work flawlessly, (and without any PC/DOs emulator on my system) from Ultima Underworld (1992) to Master of Orion (1993) to The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall (1996). However, DF eludes me; it simply locks without any form of message about 30% through the loading process. (right before it initially loads the LANDRU engine for the intro cutscene) Prior knowledge suggests that this is the point where the game loads the sound drivers... Yet it's installed with the same settings that work perfectly for sound and music in all my other games. Argh... Perhaps it just hates my nVidia chipset or AC'97 sound codec chip? The game works perfectly on my old system, and both run WindowsME.

One thing that certainly needs improving is the project page. The way it used to be was much better and at the very least avoided the numerous pages under construction.

Exactly, Geoffrey; have just mentioned that on http://forums.df-21.net/viewtopic.php_t=805&start=43.

As I promised: the FQ walkthrough is finished and uploaded to DF-21. Webmasters, when you catch a second or two, I'll be thankful for including it into the walkthroughs section. Thanks!

Nice work! I've just updated the front page with the news.

The walkthrough can be found at df-21.net/articles/fq_wlk.html.

Thanks. I'm flattered that you mentioned the Fortress Quadrigon being a five-star level, since - if you check it out in the downloads section - you'll see it has 4 stars actually.

I might be able to do another interview session again soon if you're interested.

I've had no further luck in getting DF to run on my new system as I have had trying to consistently get opportunities to get Internet access... Though I must say that I've enjoed playing just about every single DOS game I have since my last post... Argh. I think I'm giving up, and am going to try an emulator for now... At least until I work out the problem with my sound drivers... (which I am 99.999% certain are the problem, since I have found them to also be the root of my problems with every other thing that goes wrong on my system, including, on average, about five lock-ups a day)

Didn't notice you'd posted that until NTK bumped the thread up yesterday. I'd be more than interested in another wave of interviews! Go for it.
