I have a couple questions.

I have been using Wedit, as opposed to WDFUSE, because I like the 3D representation and find it easier to work with.

The problem is, my crates appear only on the floor. There is the floor of my crate subsector, but the ceiling (which is at 5 height) does not appear, and there is a black square on the ceiling of the room (sector) it is in. The walls do not appear at all.

My other question is about importing downloaded WAXs. I would like to use them because eventually my level is supposed to be a raid on a pirate smugger ship, instead of some imperial entanglement. I have them in a seperate folder, so I was wondering how to make use of them in the game using Wedit.

Thanks in advance!

The second question first - using imported files should be as easy as dumping them in a particular directory. At least, in WDFUSE it is - you'd look in the WDFUSE directory for the subdirectory that had the same name as the project. I presume WEdit has a similar system. If you can find the directory with your .lev, .inf and other files, add them there and see if it picks them up.

With the crate sector - remember you want to set the floor and ceiling relative to the surrounding room. If your room's floor is at 0 and your ceiling is at 16, the crate sector should have a floor of 8 and a ceiling of 16 (unless you want the crate to be hanging from the ceiling!)

But if your floor's not at 0, the floor height in the crate sector should be floor height of room + crate height.

Any help?

Thanks a ton.. That solved my problems.

I couldn't quite wrap my brain around the idea of the floor being off the floor of the sector at first, but it works now.

Thanks again, I know I'm an annoying newbie.

Yeah, the sector isn't your crate, the sector is the empty space above the crate.

It's a bit like sculpture, really.

Ah crates, come on they're not that bad Wink I use 3DO crates now. If only I knew how to make VUEs on Mac to make the crates move around and do stuff...
