Hi, just to let everybody know that I'm still around and still working on Dark Tide IV. I'm not too sure what Matt and Patrick are up to, but I've been working steadily on my parts. I really want to get this level released as soon as possible. I'll post some screenshots soon.

Glad to see you're still around, I was wondering where you'd gotten off to! Here's a link to some of Patrick's more recent work for Jedi Academy.

Great!
I was already afraid that "Something happened on the way to Heaven"... I don't think there's a member of DF-21 who isn't looking forward to this DF masterpiece! The release of the new Dark Tide might finally bring this site back to life.

I'd say it'll be another two years or so when new levels (including the Dark Tides) are released and by then, most everyone will be gone...

I realize thats probably the way I'm coming off...But I think its the truth. I love DF-21 and I would be the last to call it quits, but I just think the harsh reality is, its coming to an end. Remember back in the good old days when new levels would be posted twice a month? Everyone is moving on and I think if new levels arent released soon, were history...
Just my thoughts anyway

Well to be honest even if Patrick is done with the Dark Tide, there is enough done on parts 3 and 4 that they could be released quite soon. They just wouldn't be as ambitious as originally planned. Another possibility is if Matt and Patrick are just plain sick of the whole thing, I may take the work I've done on DT4 and adapt it for my own mission. I've put far too much work into this for it not to be released.

I wish I had the same attitude or motivation to get back to work, but I've just been too busy lately to even touch my projects.

Hi Barry,

Actually the work that you and Matt have done on The Dark Tide IV is my greatest reason to get III done in one form or another- to make a decent bridge to IV. At least that way some people will get to enjoy the span of work in The Dark Tide story arc. I have to admit that my ambitions on III are far less than what I started with. If most people like II and IV better it would surprise me not in the least. That's not to say there aren't some genuine thrills in III, its just that building a deep, gameplay driven story takes a lot of effort, and I just don't have the time to create as compelling a tale as in II. In the end, I'll just hope people will enjoy a fair amount of flashy gameplay.

So we should expect it out by 2006?

This sounds spookily familiar, but I can't think why...

Well Patrick if you'd like me to do anything on part 3 just say the word. There's not much point in me continuing work on part 4 if part 3 is going to take so long to release. I've spent the last two years fiddling with the same small area in part 4 and its starting to become a weird obsession. I've build and deleted the level twice or three times already. Its making my head sick.

You could always release IV before III.

Not like we don't have any kind of precedent for that sort of thing... old skool roller

You know I'd considered that. Hell we could just leave part 3 out altogether. Or, make part 3 and part 4 one gigantic mission pack.

Well, it really wouldn't make sense to leave out Episode III. There simply wouldn't be a decent explanation for Kyle going to Coruscant, although I realize one could be invented in a cutscene. But no, I can't say its a good idea. I will attempt to get III done this summer so this thing can finally get moving. It will also provide some impetus for me to get going with Episode V in Jedi Academy. Sorry for any frustration I may have caused.
