I am playing Dark Forces using VDM Sound. I would like to download and play some of the custom levels. I need help for both how to download and install these levels, as well as how to play them through VDM Sound. Please be very explicit, as I have been trying for awhile without success. Thanks in advance.

I installed Dark Forces without difficulty on my XP machine. And am using VDM Sound for the music and sound effects. I did not copy the CD onto the hard drive, and have not had to use any batch files. I want to play the custom levels--I've downloaded Ironfort. I placed the Ironfort.gob file in the C:\Dark folder. When I start the game (right click on Dark.exe, and click on "run with VDMS") it doesn't show up anywhere.
I had looked at the linked article (and now looked again), and didn't think it covered my problem. If it does, just point me back there again.

What I do is make a shortcut on the Desktop (actually Start Menu) and whenever I have a custom level, I right click on the shortcut and click "Properties". On the VDMSound tab, click "Change" to change the startup shortcut. Leave the "Program:" the way it is, but add
to the "Arguments:" line. BTW, substitute the name of the gob for gobname. Say ok and run the shortcut. Usually solves the trick for me

That works great!
Thanks so much--it's a real treat to be able to play such a wonderful game again.
