Just played through Nightraid on a whim. Not too shabby!
The mission isn't terribly difficult, although (SPOILER) Boba Fett and the first two phases of Dark Troopers do make cameos as boss characters of sorts. Usually, when those fellas crop up, it feels like a bit of a cop-out. However, it just seems to fit here, what with the storyline:
<i>"an imperial techbase that is suspected to do research on the classified "Dark Trooper"-project... Extreme caution is advised as some of the "Dark Trooper"-prototypes may already be operational."</i>
Boba's always been a bit much and he seems to have been (lovingly) thrown in here, but having the Dark Troopers guard key points in the mission works more believeably.
The architecture is pretty consistent, but that isn't necessarily too good a thing: the corridors tend to a) be a bit boxy, or b) turn at right angles. There are some nice flourishes here and there, though: intermittent columns, the AT-AT platform, and the less-boxy cave section into which the base is built.
The mission's broken up over several different areas, each with its own bit of personality. There are a whole bunch of paths you have to venture down, making it easy to take one the entire way and forget about the others until you find yourself locked out of an elevator. This is one of the better aspects of Nightraid: you'll be doing plenty of exploring and backtracking.
Nightraid's a fun little nugget of a level. I definitely recommend giving it a go.

I'd agree - this level is basically a mixture of several good and several not-so-good ideas. I've been quite disappointed with Boba Fett, because he tends to get stuck to the roof or one of the walls, then being exposed to a blaster rifle too easily.
The architecture is not something spectacular, although a few rooms have a bit of inspiration. Today it's no problem anymore, but the platform with the revolving AT-AT used to be a huge problem. It slowed the engine down so much, that the game needed a P1/133MHz to work properly. And at the time DF appeared, such a machine was analogous to today's standard-issue workstation.
But despite these flawlets, it's fun to play - recommended if you've got some spare time while waiting for your girlfriend to choose the clothes for the cinema.
