Backstory: For some reason or another, a while ago I downloaded a few of the oldest levvels onto my iBook, and I've been playing them occasionally. I got through DON-DF42 and moved on to SECREV01, but now I think I'm stuck.
The question: What does Code Key 2 do? I found a place to enter it, but it didn't even make a sound when I entered the last symbol. Near the lock was an elevator with bars around it, so I thought maybe the code would open them; but they show up as green on the map and not yellow, so I'm not sure if they're even supposed to open.
Basically, any hints? Suggestions? Is there anyone still here who still remembers the level?
Admission: I guess I could always try poking around in Dark Forge to figure out what the switches do and what controls the bars, but this was easier. Also, the tools seem to crash more and harder under OS 9 than they used to under 8.6 or 7.5; not that they were legends of stability in the first place.

Yeah I never managed to finish that one either. I seem to recall the problem being difficulty setting related, though I may be wrong about that.

I'm sure I played it over 10 years ago but I can't remember it, and I currently have an Intel Mac which can't run Mac Dark Forces. I suppose I could get the DOS version working in Virtual PC in Windows, but losing the higher resolution of the Mac version would be a letdown.
If only someone would make a new Mac OS X executable, like they did for Duke Nukem 3D.

I still haven't tried the difficulty setting thing; I'll post when I do. Maybe the officer drops the wrong code key on Hard?

I definitely finished the mission properly once. Can't remember which difficulty setting it was on, but I usually played on medium.
