Hi, I was wondering how many Dark Forces mods actually have original midi music?
I was quite surprised by the quality of the music in 'Dark Tide', and I'm trying to make a (more or less) complete DF soundtrack, and I'd like to include any original mod music as well.

Off the top of my head...

The Dark Tide Series
Beyond Glory 2: In Dying Light
Prelude to Harkov's Defection
Among the Shadows: Fortress Quadriggon (But that's not midi)

That's all I can think of for the moment... I'll add more later...

...I have no idea what cutscenes have new music (aside from the Dark Tide cutscenes, that is...)

I'm composing some for my level right now.
I haven't posted a project page for the level yet, though, so you have NO idea of what I'm speaking!!! Bwaahaahaa!

Actually, Lahara Hotel doesn't have original music, just the discarded DF boss music.

Really? I didn't know that. Although that doesn't sound too much like boss music...

Perplexion and The Bounty Hunt also used extra GMDs from DF.

personally I think the boss music isn't that bad, although it may not be typical boss music, I still think it would have been nice with a change in tune when you encountered the dark trooper for the first time and and Boba Fett.

I thought some of you might be interested in hearing how it'll sound, so here is a short excerpt; the fight music part from the first level - I've finally become fairly satisfied with the sound of the brass:)

What are you guystalking about, Lahara Hotel is Boss music? The Text File says it's from "Sam And Max Hit The Road" another LA game.

I'm listening to it right now, some of the track volumes in some spots need to be tweaked, and it shonds too... spacious... it shouldn't (at least the trumpets shouldn't) have such an echo... makes me feel like I'm in a large room... secbase is a bunch of small rooms and an our doors area.

Al,os, it doesn't loop right. You accidentally included a pieces from the beginning on the end.

If just sounds like a straight port from MID to MP3 to me tho... but I'm not a musician, so I'll shut up now. Smile

it IS just a straight port:) - I don't really feel like making the whole thing over, so I'm just trying to get the old midis to sound as good as I can. When the track is completed it's not going to end (or begin) like that, it was just a direct conversion from fight-01.gmd. About the instruments - I hear what you say a lot, I guess I'm the only one who likes a fair amount of reverb, though I am trying to make it sound like it's played in an orchestral hall - and not like the orchestra is following you around when you play the game.

There's gotta be Mac programs that can open MIDIs! Any web browser should be able to... at least try Internet Explorer... I dunoo, I know there's no hardware support, but I'd think there'd be SOME software support.
