Constantly battling it out with Mines for the title of 'Worst df mission ever'. The word 'Coober' written in df architecture. Brilliant.
Worth playing just to see how ridiculous it is.

Why don't we have a contest someday to see whether Imperial Mines or Coober wins the title for the worst DF level ever written? Of course, everyone should be able to enter their own levels!

Most definitely one of the most spectacular levvels ever, presuming you mean spectacularly bad. A complete nonsense of enemies, thrown into a series of rooms, makes this levvel laughable.
Unfortunately, it seems to be the most worthless of all levels/levvels. It fails to compare with mines: while mines is legendary for its own stupidity (and I wonder how a novice editor managed to create that rift in DFUSE/WDFUSE), Coober falls short of such achievements, as well as having an avergae wall/sector ratio.

Yes, it's so bad it doesn't deserve the first place in anything, not even the "worst levels" list!

I forgot to give Coober a rating. Yipes! Here we go:- Quality: 0%
- Atmosphere: 10%
- Innovation: 5%
- Gameplay: 40%
- Overall: 14%
Perhaps I was being a little lenient...

I once had Coober as a super-secret area in AoNS, but I decided to take it out when the lev file was getting too big. Maybe I'll stick it in DT4

God NO!!!!! That will infect the overall quality of everything!
Unless you used it as INF elevators...

I know what you mean. I was looking for INF stuff from that level as reference for my series and it took me a while to find the right script. But it was very clever how Jeff Walters used them as a part of his level as well.

Oh, and I make my dummy sectors so that the main ones like "complete" or other main ones look like the first letter. So the complete sector looks like a 'C'.

Actually, most of my work uses the LEC-style simply, tiny triangle dummy sectors. That way, I can easily leave them by the areas they service until it's complete, so I can easily understand what's where. The major, "global" INf dummies are used for NTK - for my level, they're complete, boss, and another one...

Ditto. I do the simple triangles for the ones I don't need to go back to.

Hall of Shame is a great idea! Hands down, we should do it...I'm getting all sorts of creative ideas as to how to create the worst level.

Worst level? I don't know what you're talking about. If you mean levvel, you cannot possibly beat Mines. I don't know if you've played it yet, but I do know that there are two types of DF-players:- Those who have played Mines, and
- Those who will play Mines.

I have played Dark Tide 1-2, Kill Darth Vader, The Ties that Bind, Condition Red, Operation Archangal, Discovery at Ironfort, etc.
Coober was a break from the more serious levels where there are confusing puzzles and stuff.
Someone should make a Coober 2.0, Revenge of the Coobers. That would be cool.

Coober definitely is a fun, not-at-all serious level.
Except for the ice and Dark Trooper combo, of course.

It's inexcusable. Nobody should be allowed to release a level like this.

A legendary site - I still remember the excitement and academic approach while writing the article about Mines' architecture, background, etc.

I'll give a go at rebuilding it sometime this week. The screenshots, I just noticed, are all still there... I'll get in touch with Fish to see if he held onto the pictures used in his article (which, rereading now, is absolutely amazing).

Here I am, and believe it or not - I still have somewhere the original Mines Analysis source file and its pictures. Should I upload it here?
If you want to contact me direct, go ahead through E-mail: ?ribic?@?pcekspert.com (remove the question marks).
