Hi all, I am considering using voice actors again for The Dark Tide III. I know it might not be perfect, especially given DF's sound quality using VDM sound in WinXP. Voice lines have a tendency to get clipped or sped up, but what the hell!

How many might be interested? That might determine if I bother.
Parts to be determined later.

Send a text and I'll send back an audio file. You will then decide if I'm suitable for your needs or not.

Thanks Lionel- I still remember your infamous webcam video! I will hash out all of the speaking parts after I am sure I have enough people interested.

I had completely forgotten but now that you mention it, I remember! Does somebody still has that video? I'd like to view it again.

Patrick,

A friend of mine bought a full-size Darth Vader suit last year. If you need cutscenes with Vader, I can wear the suit and film myself with a mini-DV camcorder then send you a high-res QuickTime or something...

Just tell me...

So I'm doomed to not find a solution to this problem? I thought I had just configured something wrong!

Oh well; at least I still have my iBook, plus I can use VDMS for levels that don't depend much on custom sounds/voices. I hope the same problem doesn't affect other games I might try with it.

Yeah Oosha- afraid you are doomed. I have never gotten VDM sound to work perfectly with a few different PCs. Matt H is lucky enough to still have a PC with Win98 on it. I could probably reinstall Virtual PC on my mac, but I won't bother.

Barry, who says the Irish aren't part of the Empire?

Thanks Lionel for the offer of a live action Vader performance, but he doesn't play a role in this particular episode of The Dark Tide.

Thanks everybody. Right now it looks like there is only one part to read for. Its a relatively standard Imperial-type role. I am not sure if anyone will be needed for the cutscenes. I will be sending out the lines to all interested parties within a week.

If necessary, I can do lines and convert them to aif or mp3 format. Also, I've got equipment to clear out background noise and add various vocal effects.

Surely any mechanical device used to record one's voice is by definition a mic?
