Hi there Smile

I just want to ask a little question and then I will disappear Smile (perhaps if you had better tutorials you could save us the trouble Razz)

I am looking for some particular FMEs from the game. Problem is I don't know where I can find FME files. I have downloaded the df2 program and 'broke' all the lfd files. Problem is, that I found out late that lfds are cutscenes, none of which I've tried have FMEs

I then guessed that FMEs are found in other files, the most likely canditate being sprites.gob

problem 2 is, that I found no availiable program for braking gobs. I thought that since df2 supports FME, it could also support files that contain them, but it doesn't. Or I am missing something?

secondly, although I didn't found what I was looking for, what I have done so far is fun. It's nice to have cutscenes as bmps in your pc, but the colours are distorted. I don't know how to say it, seems like the palettes are wrong. The df2 help file said that the program makes use of the dfuse.pal file, but where can i find it?

So, thanks for your time

As for the gobs, get Wdfuse or ConMan. I use Wdfuse. It has a pretty handy gob editor. And the package of all the FMEs are located in:

sprites.gob

As for the cutscene pictures, I don't know what to tell you. I've never dealt with cutscenes before, so I don't know what it is your seeing. But your guess at the palette being wrong is probably a good one... problem is that I don't know how to fix it Very Happy Razz Very Happy

I use Code-Alliance Game Explorer (CAGE) (download link), which can open up a bunch of popular game's container files.

DF2 only supports actual resource files... GOBs are container files, meaning their sole purpose is to hold other files. Since DF2's programmed purpose is to convert resource files, it makes little sense to program GOB extraction into it.

DFUSE.PAL is a palette file used by an old Dark Forces tool, and I don't think that's what you need. You need to extract the PLT file (it's a PAL file for cutscenes) that was used in the cutscene and include that in the conversion (I forget how converting cutscene stuff works so I can't be more specific). If you can't figure out which PLT just try them until you get an extracted graphic with good colors Smile
