|

With growing incompatibilty with Mac computers and such, I have come to a decision that my projects will be suspended until 1 of 2 things happen.
1: Either an update is made to existing software to be more compatible with current age OS's
2: The source code for DF (Highly unlikely) is released.
However there is a chance I might start MODs for Jedi Academy once I get a new faster computer and I might migrate my levels towards that instead. I will however not completely abandon DF and in the event the 2 things above occur, I will most definitely return to editing DF, as I will have everything backed up on my current computer.
Unless someone can tell me a full proof way of allowing DF to run PERFECTLY under classic, I will resume work on the G4 and abandon the G3 completely.
So far my efforts to get it to run at least well enough to play it comfortably have failed, which may be due in part to slow processing speed (350mhz... yeah, I know). I have plenty of memory to be able to run it.
I have also solicited help from the LA website in hopes that I can get some good advice on getting it to run, so hopefully some good solutions will present itself.
But until then, my projects are suspended until further notice. But I'll still be around to offer any help or advice I can for those who are new to this whole thing. And I apologize if this dissappoints anybody.

Too much work just to run one app. I haven't given up completely on it, I'm just taking a leave of absense until things start to work better.

I feel your pain, believe me! I almost gave up on DF a year ago after having several problems running it in Classic Mode. As it is, I can't rely on it for decent sound, as all the DF sound is running about 30% slower than normal.
What kind of problems specifically are you having? I have managed to overcome a few of them myself. I know that you should still allot much memory to each application (Dark Forces, Dark Forge) to run them.
Otherwise, as I think (1) is about as unlikely as (2) you might as well start on those JA mods. JA isn't getting any younger either.

Sound is no problem, it's mostly the video. And for some reason, I start out with all weapons and not the pistol, it's weird.
But I still have hope, and if my current idea works, I will be more than happy to share my results.

I think thats a strange mac bug, cause I used to have the same problem, is your ammo display messed up too? you should have a folder in your system folder named prefrences, and you have to do something with the df prefs. like you might have two and need to delelete the old one or something. It fixed the problem for me back in the day.
