Hmmm... if I did everything right, this post shouldn't still be here.
When I exported the old database and restored it here, I made this test post to make sure everything was working.
Then, I dropped all the tables, made a fresh backup from the old server and restored that in its place.
So, this post should not be here.
Tis a ghost post.

So it turns out this thread is actually in the SQL dump from the old server. So in a bizarre perversion of DNS (or more likely an absolute URI somewhere in the phpBB code) at some point during the process of making my test post I was actually redirected onto the old server.
So much for "thoroughly testing". 
(Always check the address bar, kids.)

I think you mean, always check the IP address your DNS lookup resolves the address TO!
