Wow. Kickass job guys, some of the architecture really made me beleive that I was running through a crowded corcuscant looking to get the hell out of there.
However, THATS where the series ends?! With Katarn ready to bash down the doors of Xizor's palace to save Jan?
And the emperor and vader wanted kyle just because he was going to be a future jedi right? Or was there more to that too? Argh!

Yeah I think the full extent of that was to be revealed in the final Episode.

I can't remember the details, but yeah it all tied up with Shadows of the Empire. It would have been great!

I only see "Always notify me of replies", but not new threads. Its probably best to post this in the Feedback section if you really want any help though.

So, at last, I find the time to play it on my old Windows 98 laptop.
Hmmm... I'm embarrassed. I may be a stupid donkey but I'm just lost from the beginning. Where to go ? I killed the flying robots, activated all switches without result, got the Autogun on the crates, tried to get through the grid in front of the shaft.
But I'm stuck. I'm getting old...

Yes, I'm getting old
I just noticed I had picked thermal detonators along with the autogun.

I'm interrupting my playing this wonderful level, as it's consuming time and I'm expected somewhere.
But let me already congratulate you for one more masterpiece, although it has now become boring to discover a new episode of the Dark Tide serie, as we easily get use to Barry, Patrick and Matt's professionalism.
The architecture is brilliant as usual, and the customized textures are beautiful. I was amazed by the class expressed by the shining and reflecting floor textures. And all the rest, of course...
As I said, I haven't finished playing it. I'll have to start level 2 later. Right now, I'm wandering in Cocotown, a bit lost, I must admit.
Technically, I must say I didn't encounter much trouble except that the level crashed once the *sewer tower* opened. I activated the switch then went on the terrace and the level crashed and exited to Windows. The second time, I had time to jump on the facing tower to pick up the ammo left by the dead Stormtrooper then it crashed as I was about to jump on the sewer. The third time, everything went fine as I jumped straight into the sewer.
The only problem is that I don't get the VOCs, only the music plays. I'm running the game from Windows 98 (without emulators like VDM or Dosbox) on an old Compaq Armada notebook. This system is fine but unfortunately I can't manage getting VOC sounds from DF as it doesn't recognize the soundcard for the sound effects (only music!).
Anyway, I'm happy to play episode 4 of this great serie and will get back to this topic later.
Cheers!

This level is absolutely gorgeous. Recently I've been playing again many levels available from the download section of this site (including the Hall of Fame winners) and I hadn't really been amazed by the aesthetics of a level for a long time though. "DT4" is truly beautiful. BTW, isn't a 5th episode originally scheduled in the Dark Tide series? I'm impatiently expecting that...

Thanks Lionel! Well Xizor's palace was initially meant to be in level 4, but the city got so big that the palace got pushed back to part 5, which as a small bit of work done to it, but will probably never be finished.

Time for my review!
Having known Barry's attention to detail from Assassination on Nar Shaddaa, I knew this would be as good if not better. My expectations were surpassed ten-fold. His ability to portray Coruscant in such a way could not have been better and was all I could hope for. The city is massive even despite the Jedi Engine's limitations, I really feel as if I'm walking through some downtown district. As far as detail is concerned, this episode hits every mark.
Of course, the missing dialogue and cutscenes were sort of a letdown, but completely understandable so I won't dock points off for that. My only real gripes are that due to a bug, I can only get to a certain area of the first level until it crashes. The second is the AT-ST ride in the 3rd level. Sometimes it acts as if the INF script only completes part way and I'll be permanently stuck in it when I try to leave, fortunately (and unfortunately) I could kill myself via concussion rifle and continue on from there.
So in conclusion even with it's dip in epicness story-wise and it's few bugs, DT4 is a beautiful example of how to push the Jedi Engine to it's absolute limits.
9.5/10

Thanks for the praise BG. That at-st bug is really annoying. I thought I'd finally quashed it and uploaded an update. Actually, did I ever upload that fixed version? Maybe I didn't. I'll have to check taht one out.
What was the other bug in the first level? Do you remember where it occurred?

When did you download your copy BG? I did upload a fexed up version a couple of months back (version 1.5), perhaps you have a older version.
Haveing said that I do remember that the last time I was playing it (showing it off to one of my friends) it did crash during level 1, which was kind of embarassing. I put it down to xp/vista/dosbox or whatever.
If you want to fully enjoy this mission as it should be played, but a win98 machine! They much be cheap enough by now. :0

I've downloaded whatever the latest version is since I didn't really get to play it until just last month. But I played level 1 on DOSbox last night and had absolutely no problems with level 1. Haven't tried the other ones though.
