Those who've read my RoT message already, I'm having the same dilemna with this as well. Only this time, I need ideas for puzzles in ancient temples (And not corny traps like Indiana Jones style traps), but intelligent puzzles like locks or something that shows that whatever was being locked away was somnething that was never meant to be found again.
At this point, I'm basically using different planet settings to make three or four of the six missions less monotonous. Any ideas would be of great help to me.

Well . . . about that . . . I would be glad to help, since I'm pretty good at ancient temples . . . BUT, it just so happens that the second chapter in my planned Interloper series is this kind of temple . . . I'd rather not have our levels end up very similar.
I will give you something general though. Have you considered using some kind of language puzzle? Something like a riddle that hints at how to solve a particular puzzle? It's probably not a good idea if you plan for your level to support original DF, since the texture will be near impossible to read, but it would be pretty interesting for DarkXL.
Also, what kind of ancient temple is this? Does it resemble the ancient temples on earth, or is it more futuristic, as in, looks and feels ancient, but also has complex machinery and things like that?
EDIT: It's good to have recurring cryptic hints at what is hidden in the temple that shouldn't be found. Not something that will reveal the mystery, but something that the player will recognize after finding out. IMO, incorporating these cryptic hints into puzzles makes the level a lot more interesting

It pretty much consists of 3 levels that house a piece of an artifact that opens something later on.
I wanted to make something that either the Jedi or the Sith were trying to hide long ago from one or the other, so obviously it would have some themes from either caste or both. They don't even really have to be temples either. The first area will more than likely be a temple just because it's in a jungle, as will the third area which will be mostly a sunken citadel. The second area was supposed to be within a series of caves underneath a ruined city.
It's more a matter of making them look less consistent.
