That notoriety was exactly what I was thinking of. The death of CDark was itself nothing unusual, as many projects die before completion. But I recall reading some of the conflicts he had with others, and unfortunately at times he seemed like he could be rather difficult to deal with.
At any rate, we are fortunate that lucius is not interested in stirring up controversy. With DarkXL and modernized editing tools on the way, lucius can only be a good thing for the Dark Forces community. Heck, ever since he brought DarkXL to everyone's attention, this site now sees thread updates more than once a week.

Have you tried the DarkXL alpha demo yet? A new build is supposed to be right around the corner that will support the first three levels of Dark Forces.

Mattias was a good guy once you got to know him. He just liked to stir things. Generate a bit of healthy debate.
What about Sheldon and his alternate universe of no jaggies. Who remembers that episode? Do we have that archived anywhere?

Unfortunately, now that I look back on some of those posts of mine during those debates, I realized I did have an air of arrogance about me.
I guess my problem with him was that I could never figure him out because I wasn't sure what he was trying to accomplish by bringing up a lot of what he said. That's not to say that what a lot of what he said wasn't true, I just felt his attitude was a bit inappropriate and rude.
Meh, it's in the past now, if he ever does come back I'll probably just end up staying out of his problems instead of "further proving his points."
I hate debating anyway, I've never been good at it and I always lose.

Trolling can be funny, derailing threads by throwing predictable insults was not. (Note - I'm not American either.) He certainly wasn't the only culprit for that though. In my eyes, though, his only real sin was showing a complete lack of respect to the site's moderators. In 2004 he was one step away from a ban as far as I was concerned, but (probably wisely) he chose to walk away.
That's in the past, now, though. He'd be welcomed back if he did decide to return.

It happened a bit before I got here, but the scientific Fact that is known as a "Quantum Phase Shift" became quickly etched into my consciousness...
Just for you: http://df-21.net/000025.html and http://df-21.net/001866.html
I could post a whole bundle of threads referring to this saga, but if you fancy a stroll down memory lane, our (slightly moth-eaten) archive is here and here.
Just run a text search for "quantum" or "jaggies". Compelling.

Hmm... I wonder if Sheldon's traumatic experience with "saws" was due to nothing more than the acquisition of a monitor with a decent dot pitch. After dealing with the monitor that came with a Tandy 1000 for so many years, I was amazed when I bought a monitor with .28 dot pitch. For the first time in my life, a single pixel looked like an actual square and not a fuzzy dot.

What a classic post. I was just a lurker back then, at the ripe old age of 12 (I wanted to grow up to be JUST like Scapegoat).
From analyzing my post in the second thread, I don't believe I knew how to use spell check yet...

Whoah, that first quantum phase shift topic sure had some strangely off-topic opinions hurled around
And it kinda freaked me out that one of those people was Jeff Clark, he's my high school principal . . .

Madison, Deja Vu has a very simple explanation, and is not at all like my problem. Deja Vu to my knowledge is simply a past life recall. The memory of one's past incarnations on this planet can be accessed through hypnosis, meditation, or other techniques, and those memories are quite often verified by fact. What happened to me is an explicit, absolute memory of the way my computer was between Feb. 1997 when I bought it to Novemeber 1998 when suddenly the graphics changed. Anyway, what PC and 3D card to you have, that Half-Life has no jaggies? I'm waiting till the Voodoo 4 comes out, and I'll get my P3 along with it, probably in Febuary cause at XMAS they rook you.
Haha, Sheldon was an odd duck. I wonder what ever happened to him? He'd be in his sixties by now right?

Yeah, he posted a topic in 2007 . . . ironically about the same subject you guys are discussing right now.
