I'm the main font of the Dark Forces (paper) manual.
I'm not Rebel Agent PDA or Katarn PDF.
I suspect that I'm not an in-house, proprietary font at this point in my life, much like the font featured on the manual cover and sprinkled through the manual, Harting.

The Dark Forces logotype is mostly ITC Machine with modifications. ITC Machine was used unmodified for the logotype of the William C. Dietz books.

Brilliant! How on earth do you find it?
Harting was located under the Typewriter category in most font websites, and since it looks like it came from a typewriter, it was fairly easy to find.
$65 for the font family is outrageous. Were you able to determine if MyFonts is the sole, legal distributor of Citizen?
edit: The company that created it back in 1986 is also selling it for the same price.

There are some excellent online tools for font identification. http://whatthefont.com lets you upload a sample and it will attempt to match it. It's amazing. Another is http://identifont.com which can narrow the possibilities with a series of questions about a font's characteristics. If neither database has the font you're looking for, what they list as similar can be interesting.
