From the textfile:

Tommos, you weren't supposed to put any 3dos or fmes or any other custom
components into the level... That's why you see the cubes. I shall leave
your components be for now however.

Ok, now for a detailed report:

Fixed a typo in the MSG file, there was a line without a closing ".

I did some minor texture stitching.

I added a functional curtain to the theatre... isn't it Barry's threatre?
Don't get rid of it, I like it.

There are several sectors on level 0 that overlap... I'm gonna let their
respective authors take care of them. Wink There are also some bad texture
references... a surface refers to #, another to BM, and another to ZWCSIDE.B..
so the Consistancy Checker says... but I have no way to find them, bah.

Made textures NDJAMS2? into ceiling bms NDJAMS3?. Also, you know how some
nar light textures have black spots on them? I fixed a few. Smile

Make the big czrgo door on floor three open with a switch in the control
room. I also found a bug... the lift outside, once called to the top, causes
HOM to appear to the north. Also, if you hit the switch to go down, and jump
off, you'll see when the adjoins change, not something you wanna let happen
in the final version. Smile

I added a little hallway to the big cargo ship, not much.

Addad a small hallway and three elevators to the upper right corner of level
3. Added an exploding box to the cargo room nearby.

Nottheking is the next editor in the queue. In fact as far as I can tell you're the only editor in the queue...

If you're able to work on it this weekend, take it. You can have it until Monday 20th October (but earlier would be better).

If that's no good then please post here ASAP.

Oops... I checked the other topic first... old skool embarrasment

I have it already, but I won't actually do anything 'till the end of Wednesday... I could easily get it in next Monday...

Edit: has anybody reserved the massive cargo ship? I know I should focus on my tourist trap, but...

I think the massive cargo ship belonged to Geoffrey Simpson, although I don't know whether he still wants it.

PS - you'll work out why it's called a sticky topic soon enough... old skool winker

I'd take it, but considering that I've had problems with it in the past, and the fact that I'm slacking off on my own project, probably not a good idea Mr. Green . But I'll take it under consideration.

Cheers Mega. I think there must be something wrong with df-21.org's FTP if stuff keeps getting corrupted like this.

One thing though - could you rename the file in line with the convention we're using (i.e. open20031009.zip ). Thanks! top one, nice one, get sorted!

Okay, Two questions. First. Are custom Textures allowed?

Second. NTK, have you reserved your huge room with the eventual tree for anything yet? Can I work on it or do you want to save it?

As far as I know, there's nothing against custom textures. Just don't put in huge amounts of them, and make sure they go to good use (Gundam's docking bay signs are good examples of proper new textures, as is the one used for the walls of the tram route).

In regards to the large room I put in, I originally intended for it to serve as a food court, or some indoor garden, since I made the northern area to serve as a tourist trap/waystation for various interstellar travellers. You may edit it, but please don't change it radically. Please note the second elevation area, defined on the map (in game) as having ledges. I didn't have any 3DOs on hand to use, so... Leave the elevator alone. Also, please feel free to modify/add something in the sixteen vendor stalls to the south of the area.

Also, please leave the halls around the huge room alone. I intend to build more sections adjoined to the hallway in the same fassion that the southern area is. Ideas for what could be placed there might include a food court/restaurant, an inn, cafes, stores, and other various commerce. When I build them, I will leave it primarily as a depository for any commerical areas that others can't find a better location for... Personally, I think some things already in existence could be moved into that area, such as Murgo's restroom...

As a last note, I may edit what you put into that area, as I have not considered myself finished with that room yet... Also, If you feel up to making 3DOs, that room currently needs four diferent ones:

1. A rectangular bridge, for the catwalks that go to the center of the room,

2. An arc of a circular bridge, one for each sector in the ring catwalk in the middle,

3. A transparasteel (glass) panel, for the opening in the celing, and

4. The tree. I will probably make this myself, if I continue to see that area as having some tall pice of vegitation. a FME just won't cut it, and a WAX won't do much better, along with eating a lot of file space.

Okay, I don't make 3DOs, I tried once and I couldn't get it to load in DF. I will probably leave the huge area alone, I just thought of some interesting planters and stuff that could go in there. Also, you were talking about the halls around it, what if that was like a strip mall, I think it could be cool if that was what the spaceport was primaraly known for. resturants, bars, and shops. Do you mind If I take one hall for myself? (if I get that far) I have several ideas for some comercial areas.

Any thoughts?

It was originally to show off the money system... maybe move that to one of the shops.

I guess you could take either the left or right hallways... I just reccomend keeping it in a somewhat (but not too much) similar style to the rest of that area... If you like, you may clone the elevator I put in... Feel free to add whatever business you feel like, as long as it would not be one Imperial customs would be interested in seeing... Laughing

(Or, if you don't feel up to designing the whole area to fit in with the nearby ones, you can simply wait until my next turn, and I'll lay out the basic structure, like I did with the bazaar...)

As far as adding planters, I think that's a good idea I haven't thought of. I was intending the area to a green restaurant; there would be tables scattered around the area, with exotic vegitation adding to the atmosphere... The only problem is, what is exotic in the Star Wars galaxy, if anything?

I didn't know that wasn't really serious... old skool embarrasment

...Actually, That autogun was exactly one of the things I had in mind for the bazaar/market. If it's all right with Barry, I was thinking that some of the stalls should use INF the way he did in AoNS.
