You're either missing one or more files, or the files are not in the DARK directory, or your current directory isn't the DARK directory.
Without more details that's all my psychic debugging skills can infer.

I have assault.bat the text,.the gob and lfd all in C:\DDRIVE\Dark where all the dark forces files are by the way its what dosbox recognizes has C:.when i open dosbox and do cd dark
assault it starts and says hope you enjoyed ****assualt : fortress dantooine****
C:\dark\lfd. i even tried moving assualt.lfd into the lfd folder and tried it and still no luck.

The batch file is buggy. It requires you to have your DARK directory in the root of the drive IE: C:\Dark or D:\Dark.
Although this is the case with DOSBox, the batch file still does weird stuff. Try replacing it with this simpler one:
| Code: | @echo off
COPY ASSAULT.LFD DFBRIEF.LFD
DARK -UASSAULT.GOB -shots
DEL DFBRIEF.LFD |

I tried that and it looked like it was gonna work and then it goes to the mission select screen i click start and then i get this error Landru error:Xactor.C(1086):pointer invalid if you cant figure it out then I will just give up on it because its to much trouble for one mod.

Make sure the LFD file is there in the DARK dir and is properly named.
Then make sure you have set the memory usage for DOSBox to its highest value (63) in dosbox.conf.
