So if you're working on rendering issues with user-made levels, does that mean you've got the original levels more or less sorted out?

They are the same rendering issues. The user levels stress the system more, so it's easier to spot the issues with them rather then having to hunt around the original levels. The only exception to this was adding the compressed BM support, but that only took 10 minutes or so (because of the framework already in place). It already recognized the fact that it was compressed and the type of compression (there are 2) but for some reason just didn't do the decompression. Oh well, fixed now.

Have you implemented DELT compression yet? That was fun when I made my library.

Actually I suppose the "fun" part was implementing the COMPRESSION part, not the decompression. That part was easy.
