Finally got around to making screenshots, just to show I AM still working on it.
Hanger Bay Redone
Some computer room, maybe some kind of bank.
Part of the underground commercial district
A popular club for all species, unpopulated at the moment
Another neat-looking building
Progress is still slow, and I'm still trying to figure out how to add an element of challange. So far it's just been a run-n-gun level which I don't want.
Comments welcome.

Oooh, interesting. I can't wait
Have you designed any good puzzles? I realize that can be harder in a city level than something like a secret base, temple, mining facility, etc. . . but cities do make for good hide-n-seek gameplay, in case your plot includes any important items to look for . . .
I have some ideas, but I'd rather not post them since they're planned parts of my Interloper levels . . . then again, they're pretty narrowed down, I doubt you'd be able to integrate them into your plot anyway.
One idea that I abandoned earlier is maybe to create some kind of illegal drug that the protagonist somehow gets addicted to . . . you could create an elevator with many stops, each taking health from the player (using a dummy sector that contains a player logic) over time until he dies of withdrawal. Finding and taking more of the drug would heal the player, but also increase either the potency or the speed of the damage effect. It should be possible to implement, but it still might be too narrow for your specific level . . .

The screenshots you have look pretty good. If the rest of the mod has an equivalent amount of effort put into it, I'd say you're well on your way to a "keeper".

That's the hope
Working on some signs and stuff on the mac right now. Work shall resume shortly.
Also I noticed the screenshots look craptacular thanks to the DOS version. I'll be sure to do the next screens in DXL.

Nice job! I'm glad to see some people still working on their projects. Hopefully it'll get a lot easier soon with the DarkXL editor.

I think instead of puzzles (although there may be a couple) I'm going to focus more on specific tasks, kinda like odd-jobs. For example, the main mission is to find a way into the main complex (3rd Level), but to get there, the fastest way is to go through the sewers/slums. But to get down there you need to use a service elevator which some disgruntled worker is not allowing anyone to use. But he will let you down if you find something that was stolen from him by the local gangsters. Well, you get the idea from that point on.
2nd Level will focus on mostly puzzles as you navigate the maze of sewers and slums (lower city was converted to sewers over time).
3rd Level I'm going to try to make as cinematic as possible. There are going to be some security puzzles and stuff, but I'm going to emphesize the climax of the plot through "animations" as much as possible. What that is going to be and how I'll make it work I'm still planning.
Now that I think of it, it seems like Kyle is going to have to go through a whole lot of trouble just to rescue some rebel official, but it'd be too cliche to make it a rescue Mon Mothma or Jan or Crix or whatever kind of mission. I may have to come up with something a bit more realistic or come up with some big plot twist.

I have had a spark of ideas lately and have started working vigorously on this project, particularly the second level in the sewers/underground. I have gotten a surprising amount of work done over the weekend and I think I will more likely get done with this level before finishing the other two. Once I get some interesting areas finished and sort out some texturing flaws I will post images of my progress.

I suppose I could upload a demo of the first mission soon. It isn't completeable and lacks a lot of objects, but a lot of the level design is finished. I guess you could say you could take a stroll downtown.
I'll try and upload it later tonight when I get home from work.

If you upload the demo, I can take some screenshots in the new (unreleased) DarkXL build and post them on the blog as a new "Screenshot of the Day."

Well I got home a little later than expected so I won't have time to upload anything tonight. Besides I want to make a couple of alterations before I get a demo out, but it won't take me long so I can still get one out before going to work tomorrow.
Look for a new thread soon.

So I looked at a few areas and decided I didn't like a majority of what had been built previously so I ended up deleting almost a third of the level. I do have a backup in case I want to add some old areas, but I have some ideas to make it look more Star Wars-ish.
For some of those that played the demo, the tram station has been deleted (just served no purpose and the waiting time for the train may make some people impatient), and a few smaller hallways that made it feel a little too linear have also been removed.
I have some ideas to renovate and compact everything to make it a bit less linear and give a few other places more purpose. When I have more progress done I will post some screens.
