I am wondering whether you are considering to implement rescaling filters (like HQ2x/3x). I have seen it in GZDoom, and even though some people reject it, I think it's a useful option to improve the look of the game without using external highres textures. I also like GZDoom's option to separately activate it for fonts (which REALLY makes a difference), sprites and textures.

Of course, this would be something for the latest development stage of the port, i.e. when everything is finished to make the game run properly.
